Well it looks like we bought the same boat at about the same time. Because our deal is done.

The boat is a 320 – with 350 Mag’s – V Drives - White Hull - Black Canvas.
Cockpit Fridge
Spot
5kw Kohler Low CO Gen
Sun Pad
Cockpit cover
Nickel – dash

Some other stuff. But here is the snapshot. Close in about a week.
Hey that's great Skolbe! Good luck with her. Congratulations!! Kind regards, Brian

Thanks - I have followed your thread on the 300 and the 318 FW's. To me the FW's is more equivalent to a 300. But priced closer to the 320.I like your Dark Blue Canvas. I have kinda kept quiet on this. But - looks like we are closing this week. I am anxious to get boating. Well, I am sure we will be comparing notes this summer.

Looks like a very expensive option....$2500. It appears that it would be much more work to remove.

I agree, and I don't see any advantage over the stock sunshades my 300 had.

Well Marine Max did my trade in inspection yesterday. Everything past. Have you ever tried to get a 7.4 MPI to start and run at 30 degrees. Then we had to run the boat WOT down the river - then they checked the oil. I am still cold.

I am curious about the gph/milage you guys are getting with your 320's

We heave the pretty standard 350mag vdrive setup and I think our mileage is dismal at best. we usually get about .5 nmpg so our range and mpg is significantly less than the test data, does everyone else do this bad? I am thinking there might be a problem somewhere in the boat, something that need adjusted and fixed

downeast,

You really have to watch where the sweet spot is on the 350Mag v-drives.

We have one and I noticed that the Smartcraft's real-time MPG calculator is way off. It uses the engine pitot sensor to determine speed, and that is always 3-5 mph slower than my GPS reads. This makes the MPG look terrible. So the first thing I did was wire an NMEA output GPS to my smartcraft and change the default speed input to GPS. Its now speed over ground, but it averages out with very little current on our lake.

With that done, I now get GPS driven real-time MPG. When I cruise its usually one of a few speeds (all MPG, not NMPG):

- At around 8.5mph, I burn about 2.5GPH per engine, or 5gph total. That gives me over 1.5mpg. If we're not in a hurry or just out relaxing, we tend to stay there. Sit back, crank up the tunes, and relax.

- If we're going somewhere particular, I tend to stay at 18-22mph, where we get about .95mpg on average. Sometimes right at 1.0mpg.

- At 25-27mph, I can get about .85-.9mpg, so if I need to outrun a storm we'll knock it up to that range.

With all of that combined, my mixed average (Gallons used / GPS miles travelled) is rarely below 1.0, usually about 1.2mpg.

If you go 9-15mph, though, you're lucky to get 0.5mpg. There is a huge difference in +/- 2mph, you just have to play with it, and see where it settles down as most efficient. If you get it on plane and then back down to minimum planing speed, it stays closer to 1.0mpg down to around 16mph.

Any faster than 28mph and you might as well install an ATM machine on the transom.

I forgot to mention, I do not have the smart craft display installed. We are usually traveling with full water, full fuel and at least 3 people on board and in choppy water. In the 3200-3700 rpm range.According to the small lcd read out on my gauges each engine gets about .9-1.0 mpg. Am I missing something here? I wish i could run more than 90-100 miles without stopping for fuel.

Downeast,

If you're talking about the real-time MPG on the center gauge speedometer, then that is actually combined MPG for boat engines, and .9mpg is about right.

If you push the mode button on one of the two tachs, you can get GPH for each engine on each tach, so you can calculate it out. At 18mph, I'm getting between 9 and 10 gph per engine, so about 18-20gph or 0.9-1.0mpg combined.

I regularly go 150miles between fillups, sometimes longer if I've just been cruising at 8mph or so.

I am hoping for .9 to 1.0 MPG. With the 260 I was 2 to 2.25 mpg.

Skolbe,

If you're not into the speed, .9 - 1.0 is easily acheived. I used to have a donzi, and thought I'd miss the speed. But cruising along at a relaxed pace with the music on and a big stable ride more than compensates for a lack of speed.

Is there some trick to getting the clarion stereo/cd changer to work?

I hit the power button and nothing happens. The unit has power because when I hit the eject button, the motors move like they are trying to eject a cd.

We have the "premium" stereo upgrade. All the 12v breakers are on in the panel. I noticed that there is a spot on the panel that says something like "stereo amplifier". There is no breaker there. It is just blank. Is this a problem?

This is driving me nuts!

Check your helm - on our 320 there is a switch in the port side 'pod' for the stereo...look for a little speaker icon.

That looks good. I think I am going to have them go across the locker like yours does.

I put mine next to the locker door....
