Official 320 Dancer Thread

thank you all, it def goes overboard. In hte summer with AC running and condensing 24/7 that box fills up and never seems to empty. And not to mention a funky slick sometimes. I add peroxide to the pan under the AC unit to try to control that.
Careful using the peroxide, it will dry out your plastics / fittings. Ok if you are treating and flushing out. Dont let it sit too long. I have been using PineSol for over 20 years in various boats. Does same thing so far as controlling the grime. Smells good too.

I also have the blue hull. I pay to have it done twice a year. But, I'm only in the water for about 7 months so I can't help you here.
thanks Spike.

Thanks for that, I wonder if Simple green would do the same?

Good morning folks, it seems last year that the shower sump box was not draining correctly. The A/C unit runs in to that box as we know. The pump would kick on when float switch was submerged, but it seemed like the pump wouldnt prime correct and start to suck. If i hold the float switch up it would seem to catch or prime and then pump water. It was strange.
Also, where does that discharge hose lead to? Does it go to the galley manifold behind the drawers/fridge. It may be clogged because a lot of water runs back in to the box when the pump disengages.

Hi Harmon,
I cant answer where the discharge goes as my boat was originally built for a lake where no water is allowed to go overboard. Everything went into the holding tank after centrally draining into the shower box. We had the gray water (sinks/galley/shower) redirected at the aft port side overboard with a new though hull. Now only the head goes into the tank.

As for fixing the shower box, if the pump in there is a 500 or 800gph rule with a rule float, we had the same issue. I figured out after 7 seasons what the issue is. The float turns off too late and allows the pump to suck air. In our case, typically after a run bouncing around in the waves, we'd get to our destination and hear the pump running. That or the first time we ran water which went to the shower box. Solution was to raise the entire float up on two plastic toilet shims. This allows slightly more water to stay in the shower box when the float turns the pump off. We dont suck air now. I was so annoyed when I finally figured out what the issue was, and how simple the answer could be!

We use some dish soap or bilge cleaner at the end of each weekend. Have also seen where people put hot tub pellets in there, but I was worried about damaging the pump or plastics.

I use the bromine as well, but only when I am actively using the system. They will certainly do some damage if left idle in the system.

This is very interesting, indeed. I'm going to look in to this, as well a

This is very interesting indeed. Im going to try it as well as an inspection of the common drain. The galley sink was running slow so I plunged a little and the previous owner must have put some interesting stuff in the sink. There was the ubiquitous hair found all over when you have women on board and a lot of sand. That common drain is propably functioning at 1/2 capacity

I use a little No Flex down through the shower drain at the end of the weekend. Been doing this for 2 years and the box looks new and no scum line.

not familiar with that product??

Harmon:

I will get some pics up close soon. in the Summer, I leave it extended the whole time. Underway, in the slip etc. It zips into the bimini canvas and attaches to the poles to hold it in place. No that hard to do but I did have to make the two brackets that hold the poles on to the Arch (I used a 3d printer, but you could to the same thing in a vice and file.

Thanks for your interest, I will get those up as soon as I can.
Harmon: I can send you close up pics but it would be easier offline. My email is W_schultz@sbcglobal.net. Send me your email and I’ll send you as many pics as you want.

Need to fix the faucet in my galley on my 2003 320DA. Does anyone know if the knobs just pull off? There are no screws on the top or set screws on the side. Has anyone had any experience with rebuilding their faucet in the Galley?

I think the top half of the knob unscrews from the bottom half. Inside there will be a Phillips screw.

De winterizing here in chilly NJ, I filled water tank to about 1/2 and the pump that sits atop the water heater keeps running as if it wont pressurize. Where to start the looking???
Also, do you guys experience a build up of what im calling dust on your flame arrestor and throttle body and alternators? there is an excess of it in my eng room

Check to see if the filter has gunk in it. Do you have a picture of the dust? Sounds like a belt may be wearing.

Thanks for tip about faucets. the dust is grey/black and clings to the alternator to the point of clogging fins almost and the spark arrestors were in similar shape. My Crank pulleys and raw water pulleys are pretty crusty as far as being rusty, it may be the cause of belt wear. Now I spray down all metal parts with various chemicals to keep corrosion down which may lead to clinging of dust.
