Did a b60 in front of the standard trans. It was one of the most hateful jobs I've done. Tight access and contortion. But doable

I installed P79 inside the cabin in the rear most compartment, next to the shower sump on the angled portion of the boat, the flat portion is full of wood and the signal does not go through. Cabling was awful, but it worked great on my latest trip to Don Pedro and back, ran the boat for 9-10 hours that trip.
Aside from the cabling, is the mounting a tough job? and is the c80 the original with boat.
Also, sorry this might sound stupid, but does that trans d work for fishfinder on raymarine?

Mounting was okay, but I made mistakes. First, I Installed the base, but did not check to make sure the transducer would actually fit where I installed it, I was about a 16th of an inch too close to a hose, and the transducer bumped the hose and dislodged the base ever so slightly. An hour later, the transducer stopped working as the water had leaked out slowly. Second install, made sure I had clearance, installed the base, waited a full day this time, not 30 minutes, so the silicone was solid and not going to move or break free easily. The filled base with water and plugged it in. They recommend you use coolant, but I’m guessing that’s to prevent freezing, not an issue here in FL, but I’ll replace with coolant when I find someone that has 2.4ounces left over. Just follow the directions better than I did and you will be fine!

Hi Craig - What do you have the B60 hooked up to and how does perform in shallow water? I had the same one installed over the winter and networked to Garmins 8612 and 942 but it loses the depth in water under 4 feet which is not uncommon here. It happens on both so I'm thinking it's either the transducer or network.

Thanks,
Rob

I don’t know about the C80, I had installed a new Simrad awhile back, so I bought a P79 with the Simrad connection. I think the transducer would spot fish, if attached to the correct device, but I have no idea about Raymarine. On mine, I never once spotted any fish, but I had turned the noise rejection up to high, to try and get a clearer screen, which it worked, but it might be dismissing fish as noise. I will turn it down next time I am out, but that will be awhile, big weather system down here....
Here is what it looks like on mine, with the map side by side...

I have it hooked to a Axiom. It does lose the bottom sometimes in very shallow water. Does better when you put settings to auto on the mfd. I run the smartcraft ducer also.

Thanks,
Rob

Dinghy question.
Has anybody successfully mounted a small dinghy to the swimstep of a 320?
My swimstep seems large enough, but the sun cushion extends over it; enough that it might make it tough to fit even the smallest dinghy.
was hoping somebody has already learned what davit I should be getting, if I should be at all.
Thanks
Eric

Hi Brando,
We are super happy with it. We basically day trip back and fourth between our home harbor in Dana Point and 20 miles up to Newport beach. There are a ton of restaurants up in Newport, so its a nice cruise.

We haven't slept on it yet, so no review on that side. But for day trips, its perfect.

I am still trying to figure out the best way to keep the teak flooring looking nice. A guy with a 320 in my harbor sealed his,and he told me he regretted it. But mine is looking pretty spotty from the food, ect. falling onto it and leaving a mark. Going to try some teak oil.

I just added Simrad radar, and am really happy with it. It ties into the existing system seamlessly. I would suggest adding it to your order if you haven't yet; I think the warrantee is better when they install it at the factory.
Hope your boat comes early!
Eric

Eric,
Did the system/boat come with a heading sensor, or did you add it along with the RADAR? I was fortunate on my older 320 the PO had a heading sensor, and that allows the radar to overlay on the maps. Without the heading sensor, no radar overlay on the GPS map, at least that’s how it was on my Simrad NSS EVO3

Yes
It was super easy to overlay radar onto gps charts and it works really well. Preset settings for offshore and harbor are all I’ve used so far, but very happy with it

Eric,
I did order the radar and the VHF radio with the build. Also upgraded the Simrad screens to the 12" screens. Do you keep your boat in a slip or is it stored on a rack? I'm looking forward to it coming in. Thanks for your input. Let me know how it is when you do sleep on it. My current 2009 310 sundancer is nice to sleep on. I hope the 320 will be the same

You 2018-2021 320 DA guys keep in touch or start a main thread for this new gen if one hasn't been started already....took delivery of a 2020 320 DAO last month (Radar,12" S-rads and teak) and keep it on a dock in water now but will put it on lift after it's installed. We have stayed on it a couple times at marinas overnight. Plan on making it a Abacos/West end runner when Bahamas gets back open at month end. I also want to get feedback on teak.......its already starting to grey out

Not sure how to start a new main thread. Just found out today the build start date for my 320 will be 29 June. About 3 weeks sooner than expected. I ordered snap in seadek so cant help with the teak. How do you like it so far?

We are loving the layout up top, electric sunshade out back is a game changer for us, bow area is well used by family, my boat has outboards so the bilge space is massive and easy to access almost all major items. The performance from triple 250s is much better than any previous cruiser I've owned, hit over 50mph with 5 people on board in mild chop and eco cruise is still in mid 30's. The lows....stupid where they put ice cooler (should be a slide out vs needing to have everyone move to open seat, when table set up its even more awkward to access), and wish they had a single connect freshwater flushing system for engines. Biggest negative is Searay has gone backwards big time on initial quality, in just a couple weeks of use the dealer has needed to re-caulk many areas around hardtop supports, the cabin feels much more cheap especially the sliding storage doors have no locks or fasteners and vibrate open while underway, faux wood floor cover for head sump in cabin flexes so much feels like I'm going to break through the floor, the swim ladder has been replaced once already and is corroding again after 1 week, I have the prestige cherry package and it appears to already be delaminating in a couple areas. For a boat they have been producing for over 2 years I'm astounded at the quality issues but I'm holding out hope all this stuff will get resolved by dealer. I truly hope they build you a better one than they built me because the layout and performance is hard to beat for a 32ft boat with a cabin. I also would have done the snap-in Seadek if I ordered again.

Did your boat come with a kohler or westerbeke generator? If its a westerbeke, have you had any issues with it?

Just FYI, I asked for a price on a new gas generator and was told Kohler no longer makes marine gas generators as of 2018 from the dealer I work with. Of course, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t get one right now, I see them advertised, so not sure he was correct.

I figured that was why I have seen westerbeke generators on a few of the new 320’s I have seen.
