I went a similar path. I used a new clarion head unit with updated helm remote and wireless remote. I used the zone feature to
Connect the cabin speakers. Bluetooth and usb steaming are excellent. Did away with xm and cd changer. Also have the option of nmea integration into the mfd but I kinda like a separate remote for the stereo. JL audio equipment is excellent sounds very nice. I have always had good luck with clarion head units. Everything fit in the same holes and the harness was plug and play. From scratch I would pick Fusion though. It was fairly time consuming to run wires but not difficult. Glad it is done. Sounds much better than stock. One thing I did find out is you don't need the spacer rings in the arch for the mx's. They are slightly more shallow than the m's. I have a set of spacers if anyone needs them.
Thanks Craig! Looks great!
Is that the only place we can fit a subwoofer? Can we only fit one? Better to use a 12" if we can only fit one?
Not sure if the extra money on a fusion head will be worth it for me. I know they are the rage right now, but I usually don't do to much with the head other than on/off. I think I'd rather put the extra money in the sound

My antenna screw was about an inch away. I guess locations vary a bit. I like the LED's.
I spoke to JL and they recommended the vent. Especially if you mount upside down.
If you mount where water may intrude thats a no no. Otherwise just slightly less heat dissipation from the inverted position.

Your install looks great! That is a good idea to add the vent in front of the amp. Might have to borrow that idea I didn’t even think about the need for spacers. I did have to shorter the screws that attach my radio antenna on the starboard outside part of the arch. One screw was preventing the speaker to mount flush. BTW, thanks again for your help on the power wire run!

A 12 sub would fit I think but require much more power.
The 1000/5 or a separate amp entirely. Then you might want to go with the m's vs mx's.
I like the 5 channel amps because its a one step solution. I don't like bridging either unless you have good ventilation to dissipate heat. Don't see 2 subs fitting with ease.

I got mine at ABT on the internet. Cruthfield is good also.

I got mine at Cartoys on sale over 4th of July. I bought the head unit from Crutchfield.

Great information. I appreciate your sharing.

Can you give me your thoughts on the advantage of the cushion head? How many subwoofers and what size and location did you install?

I went with the fusion head unit because I wanted to use AirPlay instead of Bluetooth to stream audio from my Apple TV to the zone in the cabin and or cockpit. The airplay over Wi-Fi has a much better range than Bluetooth for all sources and higher quality. Also, I just really like the design. Candidly, it was just released and the app is a little buggy. It will improve I’m sure and the sound is really good.

Regarding subs, I have seen people mount subs under the helm seat facing the lounger, but on my 320 that is where the battery switches are located.

I don’t want for more bass, I have read articles that say that on a boat the 12 is too much and it is hard to contain the bass on the water. Not sure about that but I’m happy with the 10.

My last boat before my 320 was a 245 weekender and I use to put the blue stuff in the porta poti fresh water tank so it would always flush with that mixed with water...... with the real toilet on the 320 do I still need to use this blue stuff and where should I dump it if so??

You can use the blue stuff, but you have to find a pump out station to dump, similar to an RV. For the head, you can also use noFlex, or other non perfumed stuff, happy camper is one, also heard of some type of non perfume tablet.

CLARION XMD3 Problem
Both remote controls stopped working today. Worked yesterday, don’t work today - either one! Other than the connection behind the head unit, any ideas what else to look at?
Thx
Bill

I have a 2003 320DA and my galley fridge (Norcold DE0051) is not behaving. It was working 2 weeks ago, then I had a hail out for prop work. Batteries were off at that time and are in good shape. They are new this year. Since being back in the water, the galley fridge isn’t cooling. On AC or DC. It turns on, the compressor sounds like it’s working, and then turns off. The compressor only stays on for 5-10 seconds before cycling off. Then it’s off for a few and the process repeats. Anyone have a clue what’s going on? Bad temp sensor? Blown compressor? Dirty coils? Any insight would be appreciated.

Well, I pulled the unit out and the coils were clean. There was a fair amount of residue on the Freon line, at the top front, where it enters the cooling element. So I’m thinking that’s where the Freon made its escape! From what I hear, these units are not serviceable, so I guess I’m on the until for a drop in replacement. Looks like a vitrifrigo c62 or an isotherm 65 should both fit. Other ideas?

You will be more than happy with the Vitrifrigo C62. My captain loves it. The old "Notcold" slid out and the Vitrifrigo slid in. Plugged it in and good to go. Larger interior, lighted inside, larger freezer, and so quiet you cannot hear it running. Very happy with ours and when the back deck smaller "Notcold" goes belly up, a Vitrifrigo will replace it as well.

Boy, I hope so! I bought one yesterday and am now just waiting for this Maryland Monsoon to finish so I can get down there and install it! I'm expecting it to fit down the cabin doorway without issue...

And hey! Bite your tongue about the cockpit fridge. No more fridge replacement$, plea$e!

Scooper: My Vitrifrigo fit easily thru the door down to the salon. No worries!

Thanks! I wasn't (too) worried. It seems like the slightly larger dancers were outfitted with much larger fridges and those were the ones with the issues. I was going to install mine this afternoon, but more thunderstorms are predicted so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I really don't think it's going to take very long.

My transom door on my 320 is sagging and I have to lift up on it to latch the door. I noticed today that some of the screws in the hinge need to be tightened. To get to those screws I have to remove the hinge from the boat. I turned each of the screws today and while they were tough at first, now they just spin. They have not backed out at all.

Does anybody have any suggestions other than drilling out those screws. I thought this one wasn't going to be that tough.

Got it in this weekend. The C62 does fit easily down the stairway into the cabin. It does not fit perfectly into the Norcold hole. I had to remove the rubber feet from the fridge. And I also had to enlargen the hole vertically. That wasn't hard (I've taken a jigsaw to the helm, so cutting the cabinets was easy!). But it was sort of annoying. But I got it in and it runs well. And quiet. I think I'm leaving the face black and not going to try and put the wood grain on it. Looks more contemporary and I'm not sure the panel would fit perfectly anyway.

Got the fridge in this weekend. It for down the hatch easily. Into the Norcold space? Almost. The feet on the Vitrifrigo had to come off. I also had to trim about 1/2" off the top of the opening to get enough room to fit. But as I have used a jigsaw on my helm (twice) in the past, taking it to the cabinet was child's play. Lol. Here are a few pics.
