Official 290 Sundancer Thread

I have a 1993, 290 Sundancer. I am in the process of removing the bow rail mounts, cleaning, water proofing and reinstalling. I have been able to locate all of the mounting nuts on the inside of the hull except for the starboard aft mount. I have searched many compartments and cannot find an access point for these. Does someone know the location for these mounting nuts?

Not knowing the boat that well and without seeing some pics I can't offer any help but maybe some other guys will chime in. Don't know if you have these or not so here ya go.

Boat is on the hard and just got new bottom paint, gimbal bearings, bellows, outdrive paint (Petit Eco), and Propspeed on props. I am in a warm marina that has lots of hard barnacle growth during the summer and was having to scrape my outdrives and props every month.

Has anyone swapped out their underwater lights for led's? I am trying to find one that is a lower profile, therefore they stay out of the water and don't get growth on them.

Keep in mind the farther out of the water they are the less light will penetrate down in the water...much of it will reflect up.

Yeah, I thought about that as well, only the edge of the light nearest the stern is in the water. I have the 4.3's, I would assume they sit lower on the larger engine options too. I didn't swap them. Outdrives are back on, props are gold and I am waterborne at 1 tomorrow. I am trying out a new outdrive paint. This is Petit Hydrocoat Eco, made for aluminum hulls and have been told it works great on outdrives (corrosion is from previous owner in a fresh water

, electrically hot slip). My bottom paint is Interlux Ultra and propspeed.

I have almost completed LED light replacements but I need some help. I have 2 lights in the cabin that aren't working. One is the small LED ceiling light that pops into a hole in the ceiling. It doesn't appear that the bulb can be replaced and the whole thing needs to be. Second is the fixture for one of the wall lights seems shot. It looks like the switch was bypassed by the PO but it still doesn't work. I took it apart as much as possible but I'm not getting anywhere. Where can I buy an entire new assembly? Thanks guys!

The LED ceiling lights are sealed units. I was able to purchase from Sea Ray through Marine Max a few years ago, I think I read somewhere on this forum that they are no longer available. I think you can still purchase the wall lights if you cannot repair it. Try to google search the part numbers for both.

Take care

Just wanted to share what I finally figured out. Both lights are made by ITC but they dont sell direct to consumers. The rep at ITC gave me info for SailorSams and then I was able to order from them.

Blowers on for a few minutes...., then the start switch in the salon panel...press it for a few seconds till gene catches.

On my Kohler 5E it's just a push of "mode" and then a single push of start button. Everything is automatic. Just make sure the switch on the generator is in auto. After running the blowers as Groucho said.

Good to know. Filing it in my archives. Thanks for doing the leg work.

So i finally figured out my kohler 4esz problems. Bad genny fuel pump. Thank god i am replacing it cause i found Fuel line from fuel pump to carb is completely rotten and had holes in it. Gonna replace carb while at it too. Pump $250, carb $325, fuel line $75. Peice of mind that i will not blow up..... PRICELESS

Glad you found it!
I spend alot of time down in the engine room just looking around for little things. It pays off when on the water. I would recommend getting a Kohler Sea Spares kit or at least the critical items. Lost a impeller last year on the lake. The spare I had was priceless as it was about 90 degrees at night. NO AC NO SLEEP

My boat has been back in the water for about a week now and I have burned through a tank of gas and spent time on it about 4 days. I replaced a bad gimbal bearing in my STBD motor and the bottom paint and propspeed…...but, I have seen a HUGE difference in top end speed. I have a pair of 4.3L's. I used to be able to get about 32 mph before and now I am up to to 40 with a full tank of gas. What is the norm for anyone with a pair of 4.3?

40 mph sounds about right with twin 4.3's.

I have the single 7.4 and I can push 34, sometimes 36 mph with 3/4 tank of fuel and a couple people on board.
