Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Any ideas on how to fix this on the door the cabin. I am guessing previous owners boated around with cabin keys in, sigh.

That actually looks like some voids in the gelcoat best I can see from the pic.
Depending on the depth and the edges you may have to grind it out with a little Dremel tool or the like, then under fill it with marinetex or epoxy then slightly overfill with gelcoat then sand, wet sand' buff, polish, wax. Then you can get the gelcoat repair kit from https://spectrumcolor-com.3dcartstores.com/Gel-Coat-Search_c_7.html after contacting Searay customer service with your Hull ID# to get the correct color/id#. A lot of guys on here have gotten fantastic results.

Storm/power outage when I was typing, so Dennis beat me to it.

Sure... THAT'S the reason! ;)

Any new suggestions on where to place a 7 or 9 inch chartplotter? I'm in the market for a Garmin 722 or 922 and I'd like to have it centered above the steering wheel. I found an old thread where someone had put a bracket on the lower instrument panel. But that was a c80 chartplotter plus the pictures only showed the bracket, not the plotter installed.

I'm thinking to replace faux woodgrain panel with Star Board, rearrange the instruments or remove some and screw the bracket on there. The space under with the VHF unit is to low for my taste think.

Has anyone installed a newer style chartplotter in center somehow and could share some pics?

Need to replace the shower head in the wetbar outside, previous owner cocked up some strange custom fit which now came loose.
Seems to be a 1/2 inch thread, does anyone have the original shower head and would care to share a pic? I'd like to see how it was originally..

Not all years used a pull out sprayer. A sprayer, actually, is rather cumbersome. Ever try to wash both your hands while at the same time holding the sprayer and button with one hand? Better to switch to something like was used in later years, a regular faucet. Maybe this is what your previous owner already did?

But, look in the archives on SR's website to see some pics. Possibly in your parts manual, as well.

I see your point, I'll think it through some more. Previous owner mounted a sprayer with smaller threads and filled the rather big gap with the thickest layer of Teflon tape. It just broke off one day, creating a beautiful little fountain instead of a wetbar.
Ill have a look how the later models are designed as well, I like the idea of a sprayer, but maybe a one grip faucet with a retractable head could be the beat of two worlds

Thickest layer... oh boy!

Just an FYI... you have a fresh water spigot in the transom locker - a coiled-type or expanding hose works real well for that. I added a holder for a coiled hose just inside the lower edge of the opened locker hole. Laid in there real nice, stayed off the floor and was not in the way.

So was working in bilge area and found this. Umm any ideas.

One other question. My starboard engine went sluggish and died. Even not running the tach was going crazy and throwing alarms because it thought it was running too hard .

When I switch on but don’t start it keeps makes a sound and clicking. Should only do this for a few second but keeps doing it. My best guess is a relay for the fuel pump. I think that is the first sound, the fuel pump priming.

I can’t seem to upload video. Ia guessing a control board or something. Bravo 3 5.0 merc.

I just took ownership of a 2005 dancer with twin 4.3s. Two questions:

#1. Anyone know what this wire is coming out of underneath port engine? It’s not connected to anything.

#2. My starboard engine only starts when cold. After warming up even at idle for 5 minutes it won’t start again till many hours later. When it is running it seems healthy. I replaced all three batteries and swapped IAC from port engine with same result. As these things go they both started just fine during sea trial.

I looks like a hose with a plug in the end to me, not a wire. I looks like the engine oil drain hose, take a look, see if it's attached to the bottom of the oil pan.

Do a search for vapor lock, it's a problem some guys had with the 4.3's.

had something similar for item 2 on my generator. It was a vapor/air lock in the coolant system. Not sure if the engine has the same issue but took topping it off and getting all air out.

Interesting solution! Any possibilty to add a pic? I can't quite picture it..
