OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

Welcome Sea Ray King! Make sure you put your signature on this site with your boat's main specs so when you do ask a question, we know a bit about your boat. Show us a pic of your boat, put it in the virtual marina. She's a great boat and you'll love her. I have the same power package and I think it's does very well on a boat our size.

I thought I posted here once. I have a '97 250. It's for sale in the Fl Panhandle. Beautiful, one owner. It looks almost exactly like the 270 above, just a little shorter.

The mod I've made is that I ordered it with a 5.7 LX EFI. It wasn't an option, but they built it for me.

Yup, trying to. Wanna look at 290-310, something I could get a trailer for if I needed to. I admit, I've gotten bit by the "need a bigger boat bug"

Hope to be joining this group soon. We've got a contract on a 1996 250 and the survey is this Thursday. If all goes well, we'll be in the water (in florida) a week later.

I hope the survey goes well for you. Good choice on getting the survey by the way. Welcome to CSR! If the deal goes through, make sure you put some pics of her in the virtual marina!

Got a couple friends in Lauderdale who are boat captains. They both said getting a boat without getting a survey is...I believe the term they used was "Bone stupid." The survey is expensive but not compared to a new motor. Anyway, if things go well, the pics will be downloaded. Thanks for the good wishes.

I changed out all the cockpit lamps and replaced with LED`s,, sure made a big difference,;
Replaced the cassette with a cd player and infra red remote that I keep at helm with velcro over the old cassette touch pad.. But now, due to wife`s health, we are selling it with trailer this spring hopefully.

Sorry to hear about your wife's health issues Cappy, I hope all will turn out well.

Looks like were both selling the same thing! 250, trailer, led lights, and a new cd player! You must have been reading my mind

Slack.! thanks.. It`s just getting too hard for her to get on/off the boat so I guess its time to do something else. We sure had our fun tho. Will surely miss boating.l

mine is a `97, no arch tho.

Pardon the stupid question but What do the LEDs do that stock lighting doesn't?

The stock lighting, at least on my boat is a dingy yellow color light. When I put in the LED's it's a much "whiter", brighter light. It's amazing what transformation it will bring!

Slack,
Now I get it. I know what you mean by "dingy yellow light."
Do the LEDs fit in the same spaces as the original lighting? Oh and where did you get the LEDs? Expensive? This might be a worthwhile project for our '96 250.

In addition to the whiter light, they draw WAY less current. The downside is that if you were using the old lights to heat your boat, you'll have to find another source for heat!!

I haven't done this, but a friend of ours did it on their boat and it was amazing. It's also vogue on all the new boats I saw at the boat show (OK, it wasn't a REAL boat show since it was in Spokane. :smt015 ). I'm planning to pull the bulbs that I can and replace them with the LED's. I have three that are used primarily for reading and often left in the on position for hours. With an LED you can leave them on for months!

Do you mean you can replace just bulbs? I figured I'd have to replace fixtures not just bulbs.

-Chazaroo

NO, No, no :smt018 You DO NOT have to replace the fixtures, only the bulbs. I purchased mine on Ebay. Just do a search for the bulb type (look on the original in your boat) then add LED at the end of the search, you'll probably find 10,000 hits on Ebay. Just make sure you have the right one. Many aution pages have a nice diagram with measurements, usually in milimeters so you can measure your bulb then compare.

You'll be very satisified.

I changed out the whole lamp fixture with a 3 LED combo fixture. I can leave them on all nite while we are out eating and partaking of spirits and not have to worry about battery drainage. I changed out the one in the step down to cabin also.. So, whoever the next owner is, they should appreciate them. At least I hope so. It`s been a great boat.

I'm sure it works well. I didn't change out an actual fixtures, because I wanted the boat to have the original appearance. LEDs are great!
