Thanks.

Great labor day weekend.
But I made bonehead mistake.
Installed new 2nd battery backwards. Got out to anchor on batt 1, fine. Then switched to #2. went to start motor on #2 and nothing. (all accesories still worked since cabin lights and freshwater pump don't care if battery is reversed)
But now I have no power to the ignition switch. I checked with voltmeter from the backide. All breakers are pushed in.

Does anone know where I can get a DC schematic for the 1998 250DA?
SEA RAY website does not list an owners manual for the 250DA when you select year 1998. Closest I've found is a 240DA manual.
Hopefulyl the schematics are similar...

Thanks. Any helpful comments welcome.

jpl, thanks for the pics. The only problem with the lewmar profish is that the line, when retrieving comes around the gear and jams. I have to constantly up and down the switch. not sure if it is a line problem or other.

Thanks. I did confirm that power is going to the starter thru the "big" red wire from the battery. There is a smaller red wire that goes from the starter to the 50 amp breaker on top of the engine. That wire is not getting power.

The 50 amp breaker is shown on all the schematics. Schematics seem to show the big red wire and smaller red on the same terminal. But are you saying there is an additional fuse on the starter solenoid itself? I can't see it very well since there are 2 hoses blocking my view as I crawl and try to cram my head down I the bilge.

All of what I read tells me that different set ups even for the same engine are plentiful, meaning that you may or may not have one fuse/part or another. I may have missed what year the engine is and you did mention that it may have been replaced by the PO. All of which muddies the water a little more. At least for me. I may be getting a little out of my league here so, if you have not already seen it, let me suggest this thread....

Thanks mwph. Im pretty certain its a fuse block in the starter now. Time to do some contortions and crawl down under there. ..

It mounts to the starter and protects the alternator and ignition circuit.

Question on prop for the experienced: 1995 Sundancer 250DA, top end is supposed to be 31 or so mph.. but by GPS I hit 36 with a bit of trim. specs call for and i quote:
1995 250 DA IO 5.7L (250 hp) Bravo 2 2.20:1 17.50 x 23 4800
The boat came with a quicksilver 17.5 x 21 pitch prop.. and (although tach may be off a bit) I am hitting about 4400
The question is this.. how can i going over the said max speed by 5mph.. with a blade that has less pitch than whats supposed to be on the boat stock, at a lower rpm????
Seeking answers as i would like to put stainless on the boat and keep the quicksilver as backup.
Thank you in advance.

Saw thread from 2006 on aft cabin mods 250DA to create more space. The photo link is long broken by now. Anyone have pics of this or can explain what it is? Curious.

Has anyone had any luck replacing the hatch arms for the 1990 era? I have one arm on the large front hatch and one on one of the small hatches. I have tried several "fixes" to no avail.

I did this on my '91 last year. I bought the new style arms, drilled out the rivets on the old arms, and tapped the standoffs for 8-32. I put screws in with a washer between the arm and standoff, and secured it with loctite. One full season of use with no issues thus far.

Need Photos - HELP! I have a 98 250DA. Doing an upholstery project. Sent the rear bench seat and captains backrest to be redone. The rear bench turned out perfect. However for the captains backrest, the original plywood was completely disintegrated. So the upholstery shop had to "wing it" to guess the proper angle for the side piece that wraps around. Look at photo. Obviously they got it wrong. They are fixing it of course. Coming to my house in fact to take measurements and create a pattern. IF someone here with a 98 250DA could take a picture of the captains seat from the side, I would appreciate that. THANKS! (is a small pic but the site wont let me upload more than kb)

I was cleaning out my garage and found Camper Canvas and a Cockpit Cover for my previous 1997 250 Sundancer. I never used any of it so outside of age, the condition is excellent. It's a Tan color

If anyone would be interested, let me know.
