OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

I'm going to suggest that you start a thread in the General Discussion Forum. Include "Spider Cracked Gel Coat" in the title and include both the close up of the spider & the above picture identifying its location. The new post in the General category should get more eyes looking at it & hopefully some experienced based responses.

I guess while I wait for responses to that thread, here are my plans for some improvements this season:

1) I have a new VHF Radio to install (The old uniden seems to have bought the farm, so, I just got a new Standard Horizon Eclipse)

2) Ordered 3 new port screens and gaskets as the exiting ones are looking a little tired and the gaskets are leaking slightly

3) I bought a new pair of Leupold Binoculars to keep on the boat

4) 200ft of new anchor rode to set depth markers into

Roll on the week of Apr14th!!!!!

Very nice boat. You could look in the anchor locker and see if there is a hole - the anchor locker is what would be behind the mirror. If someone installs a windlass and screws their anchor locker door shut for windlass support, then they would access the anchor locker area from behind the mirror. My mirror is fixed, with no access behind it and no hinges.

Good luck with the boat.

Cheers, Pete.

On my boat, I can access the anchor locker from the cabin. About the only advantage I can see in having that access would be you could get some airflow through on a nice day or night by opening both the hatch & the mirror.

The downside is when you are in 4 foot rollers and they're coming over the bow, and potentially some water is leaking into your cabin.
I'm considering putting a piece of plywood with sealant in the locker and screwing it tight.

Like I mentioned I did learn some lessons that will save me a bunch next year :).......anyhoo about my bilge pump.....any ideas?
Bilge pump. Did you check the breaker below the switches? If it isn't that, I'll be someone hooked it up to the battery wrong.

One of the things I need to clear up is why the cockpit heater isn't sending out hot air (admiral needs it!). Is it hooked up to the same heater line that the hot water heater is or is it supplied by something else?

Also, replacing the water heater (more fun standing on my head). Can anyone point me to where I might be able to find new elbows that connect the (polybutylene) water lines to the water heater? The ones on the old heater have seen better days. It appears that one has a one-way valve to prevent backflow.

TIA,
Jim

Had a good day at the boat today. I finally managed to get all the jobs I wanted to get done completed. New VHF Radio is in, New port screens and gaskets have been fitted, and, I just completed the Internet/WiFi install, internet works great, and, I can now start using the boat as my 2nd office, this will make the summer a great one :).

"Honey, I really would like to go to your nephew's graduation with you, but I have a ton to do at work & I really need to get caught up."

You know, if they would have that graduation party at point state park here in Pittsburgh, I think I just might be able to make it :)

Hi guys. I just purchased a new to me 1990 250 dancer and cant wait to get out there and try her out for the first time. I did purchase it from a broker, so I might have a few questions regarding to the different systems operations. We did take her out for the sea trail and had her surveyed and everything checked out ok. The only downfall is it has 900 hours on her, but you really woukldnt know it with how strtong the 454 runs with the bravo drive.
I tell you what, jumping from a 19 foot cuddy Larson boat to this dancer was quite the jump in trying to get use to the size of her. I have a question, am I suppose to see the meter on the breaker panel move when plugged into shore power?

Take a look at the picture of my breaker panel on page 20, is this what you are referring to?, it was taken when on shore power, with all switches in the on position, however from memory it only moves when I toggle the "AC Convertor" switch.

I went back to page 19, 20 & 21 and couldnt seem to find the pic youre talking about.

Thanks for the pic. We put her in the water for the season this past weekend. My next question is when I switch the reverse polarity switch to the test position it illuminates. Can someone explain to me what this means, and if it should have been illuminated? When I plugged into shorepower, my meter did move to the right...

The switch is there for you to test that the lamp works. If you're plugged in and the lamp is not lit, then you're good to go.

Hello all. Just put my 1996 250da in the water for the first time. Got a kick out of the listing responses, as I never had those on my other boat and did experience them on my first run. Decided on not venturing out to the ocean thru our inlet until I have it under control. Played with the left side trim and it helps. My mechanic said to play with the engine tilt instead. On to the next joy, installing an anchor windlass. Does anyone have one and exactly where would it go(how close to the anchor hatch opening is the hole for the rode/chain drilled)? How far forward from the bow end of the anchor compartment and do I have to reinforce this area from underneath?

I have a windlass on my 250, hope this pic helps, not sure about any reinforcement as it was on the boat when I bought her.
