Official 240 Sundancer Thread

I have noticed what looks like 2 lights near the outdrive (one on each side), I wonder if underwater lighting was an option, guess I will find out soon enough.

Interesting, maybe aftermarket? Upload pics if you get a chance. Good luck with the trial on Thursday, if you are anything like me you are going through all of the posts on here learning as much as you can.

I have been, lots of good info! And even found some of the other folks are thinking the same things as me, like a radar arch! :)

Ill get some pictures on Thursday, although it will already be in the water when I see it...... Ill try to figure something out.

I regret the stock motor and drive. Even the boat size. Too small and underpowered. Think bigger and more powers.

Did the sea-trial, everything was rock solid (minus the horn :|). took it from annapolis to solomons, then down to tall timbers (long day). Love the boat, once I got used to the trim tabs it was really easy to trim, the boat got on plane faster then I expected (3 people and gear) and cruise speed was about 27-28mph at 3800 (11-12.5 GPH). Going to wash it up today that 5.0 MPI is silky smooth. What do you guys do with your stern lines? I have them crossed with some chafe guard on them but it still feels wonky to have them rest all over the boat? and suggestions? maybe the answer is just to put another set of cleats on?

boattest.com reports 30mph cruise and 46mph top, I wonder if my boat has a different prop, or if that data is just wrong.

Hi quick question guys. I want to add a rear Bimini top and need the dimension of the stock rear one. Can someone please give me the width, height, and length of the open canopy? Also the width between the brackets that are attached to the gunwale? Thanks

bit harsh mate, boats are like boobs, all want bigger, but upgrading can be expensive and sometimes its best to stay with what you have

Gents,

Please don't misinterpret the tone of my reply to the post!

The thread seemed to be asking for opinions and I was honest in what I wrote in my case. In hindsight, I would have taken what I spent on for new and should have gotten a few years old, bigger and with more oopmh!

Every decision is a personal one and I hope he makes the best one for him in the long run..

Hello everyone, I am a soon to be addict of a 98 this weekend. Is there anything I should be aware of or look for? First real boat besides 16' lunds. It has 5.0 efi and a/c with low hours.

have you gotten the info you need yet? if not let me know and I will take a ride to my boat tomorrow and measure.

NEW boater here. Bought my first boat Yamaha SX210 jet boat at the age of 48 in March of this year. Should have done more research. Saw a Sundancer on the water an fell in love. So now a 49 I own my 2nd boat a 2008 Sundancer 240 with only 42 hours. Took it to Orange Beach Alabama this past weekend and put her in the water and she ran great until 3500 rpms when an alarm goes off and she won't do anymore. I have her lined up to get checked out later this week.

Hi seannyg, So you are my neighbor. I am just up the river in Breton Bay. Welcome to the club ! So far as the crossing lines - I added pop up cleats to my 340 on the back edge of the swim platform. Much nicer arrangement not having to step (trip) over the stern lines coming off the original cleats. i only use these when I am with the boat. During regular mooring I suggest using the SeaRay cleats - they are much stronger. Do you ever venture up the Sharks Tooth Island ?

Hello boat neighbor Korkie!

I haven't been to shark tooth yet but certainly something we would like to do, possible this weekend weather dependent! Yea the standard cleat location is a pain in the butt, I've added some rubber chafe gaurds to my mooring lines so it doesn't rub on the fiberglass, seems to be working quite well. I will need to check out the pop up cleats on the SP. Korkie do you stay at a marina up there? How is is?

I live on Cherry Cove Creek off Breton Bay. Been here since '85. Boat is on a covered lift. Great having it 150 feet out my back door. Next weekend is a big poker run that benefits 7th District Vol Rescue Squad. It is Saturday the 13th and goes from Fitzies to Coles Point to Sharks Tooth to Colonial Beach and back to Fitzies. It is a fun time. Meets at Fitzies 10:00 to 11:00 and leaves there at noon. All kinds of boats partake, not just the go fast. It is a great day on the water and you meet many of the folks that boat on the river. Friday afternoon before is a fun run to Sharks Tooth. A gathering of several of the Saturday participants - just cause they can. Gets a little crowded parking, we all raft together - so having fenders is a must. If you are interested let me know and I will look for you.
We may try to get down to the Labor Day events at Tall Timbers this year. Went once with a group and had a blast. Have to see what others are planning for the weekend.
Enjoy!

So today I'm poking through my boat looking in every nook and cranny just to see what's there. I pop open the air conditioning vent and see a manual wedged in the AC unit. So I pull it off and all of a sudden my air vents start pumping out 5x more air! Haha it was wedged in there against the filter. Now the AC really really cranks!

Bought mine today and took her down the Chicago river on to Lake Michigan for a while to my slip in Indiana. My question is anyone with a 305 what is your speeds and rpm? My phone gps has her topping out around 34 at 4K and cruises pretty good at 3500 at 29. Wow the trim tabs are touchy, was playing around with them a bit to get a feel. A/c is great, love the built in a/c.
Is there anywhere I can order a full camper setup and will that come with poles for the camper also? I emailed great lakes place
