Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Welcome aboard Toby  I think I already said that in Anouncements where you made your first post. I wish I had a 6.2. My 5.0 is a dog! :smt009

Thanks again Mike!

Believe it or not, I searched for a 240 'Dancer for 4 months because I wanted one with the elusive 6.2L in it and I wouldn't settle for anything else. Found it in Utah, drove it home, and have been anxiously awaiting summer ever since.

I came from a 2003 Nordic 25 Rage hotrod boat with a 496HO, 425hp engine that could do 75 all day long...so, I feel your pain! But, I'm happier with the Sea Ray than the Nordic anyday of the week!

Now (I have searched it already) I have to add my Magma grill to round it out.

rizz,
the place I went to in my area is very good. He told me he has done many of these before. He told me they make a special clip that fits in the tracking on the window. I guess I'll have to wait and see. As far as the rubber tracking, I believe they just cut it off and add snaps. Once it's done, I'll take some pics. and post them here.

Microwave install

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and to SeaRay. I just purchased a 2002 240DA. I'm getting it ready for spring (5/11 1st water!!) and I'd like to add a microwave to the galley. There is an obvious place to install it (in the area behind the burner). I have a couple of questions on the install. 1 where can I find a microwave that will fit? I found one that is 12" deep and one that us 13.5", I'm not sure it will fit right. Does anyone know what model SeaRay uses?2. will I need someone to install it? I haven't worked with vinyl much. 3. there is a spot in the breaker panel for a a microwave over (even though it wasn't on the options list), where can I purchase a breaker and are these normally AC or DC ? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Scott

Hi Scott,
Sorry I can't help you with the micowave thing as I don't use one.
But I'm sure someone will chime in to help. Anyways, welcome aboard. Now lets see those pics. Get your boat in the Virtual Marina!

Scott,

First of all, welcome!
We have a great bunch of 240 owners here. I am sure you gain a wealth of knowledge, I know I have.
Now, as for your microwave situation. We have the same boat as yours and faced the same issues. The galley top in the 2002 240 is not well suited to incorporate a micro. It's just the wrong shape, and the wrong dimensions in the wrong places. Now, with that being said, most anything is do-able if you want to try hard enough. The only way that I could figure out how go about it would be to completely remove the galley top and do major re constructive surgery on it. Even then it would still be a tight fit. Click the link below for an example of some .5 cubic inch micros, and there dimensions. If you manage to get it done, I want pictures!

If you decide to plow into it your circuit breaker part # is MM461443. This would be the Marine Max number and it is an AC breaker.
Also to be considered, the 2002 240DA has precious little storage in and around the galley. One of the big deciding factors for us to not pursue the micro project was the loss of storage space. We currently keep all our bar-ware, coffee pot, and allot of other misc. crap in there that I don't know where we would put without the space.
If you get into anything else like air conditioning, flat screen TV. DVD player, or XM radio, give me a shout as I have been down all those roads.

Cheers,

Jim

Thanks Jim, I agree with the storage issue. The 2003 did have a microwave option and they installed it behind the burner. I'll have to check the dimentions. When it comes time for a TV I'll contact you.

Yeah....I know the feeling! I see in your VM, she has a name. Did you already name her?
Congrats on your new boat. Enjoy!

Yes, and with apologies to prodigalson, she's named Festivus. However our festivus is in honor of the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens in the 2000 season weren't allowed to utter the word playoffs until they clinched. Instead the players referred to the playoffs as festivus after the Seinfeld episode.
When they went to the Superbowl they called that "Festivus Maximus".
Our home has a Festivus room where we have some exceptional Ravens items displayed.
When we bought the boat I suggested "Tiny Dancer" being an Elton John fan and the wife said she liked Festivus.
I thought it would be a smart gesture to let her win that one.

Quick question, since I am at work and dont have the manual with me, I dont have the vaccuflush because I opted for the generator, but Do I have any holding tank or just the little tank in that porta potty?

papogator24, the porta potti tank is it. If my memory serves me correctly I believe it is 6 gallons. We have always been able to get through a 3 day weekend without having to pump out, even with some guest usage. But at that point you will be brim full.
It's up to you but, I would strongly recommend a #1 only policy on the porta potti usage. #2 is just a whole other realm of oder control problem.

Cheers,

Jim

I figured because after :ahem: 3 dumps it was full  Good thing I pumped it out the same day.

I have the porta potty. At the pumping station I use, there is a fresh water hose. After pumping, I have someone rinse the holding tank, and I pump again. I do that at least 2 times. It helps a lot!

Mike, 10-4 on the double rinse when you pump out, it really does help. Also, last year I said to heck with all the Quote: Environmentally Friendly tank treatments and went with the real deal. If the tank treatment doesn't have some formaldehyde in it, its' not going to keep things from stinking in August!

Cheers,

Jim

New to Sea Ray

Greetings,
Just took delivery on our new 240 Sundancer. Have been boating about one year and we moved up from a 20' bowrider. Really looking forward to being able to stay out longer on the cruiser. Splashed her for the first time last saturday. What a blast to drive. Bought from MM in Fort Walton Beach right after the local boat show of course.
Pictures to follow.
