Official 215 Express Thread

Congratulations! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Mine still needs cleand and waxed. The weekend weather here in In. has sucked. It's usually in by now.

215 EC folks:

Do any of you with the extended platform have an approximate measurement from the top of the platform to the waterline?

Those of you without an extended platform, do you have an approximate measurement from the top of the built in transom step to the waterline?

See photo below.

I am an avid fisherman and am doing some planning for my 2000 SR 215 EC that I hope to have by the end of next week. My planning involves finding all of the alternatives for mounting a 10hp four stroke trolling outboard (kicker). I need these measurements to evaluate bracket selections and the potential solutions for a remote control similar to the remote troll in the photo (mounted to a larger Bayliner, not a 215 Express).

Thanks in advance,
JD

I have been working on my 2000 215 EC and can't figure out how to remove the stereo. Can anyone give me some advice on the correct way to get it out without damaging it?

Hopefully you have these... They came with the original owners pack... There are two "keys" that slide into the left and right side gap between the actual stereo and the mount. The keys push in on tabs to release the stereo. These "keys" simply look like weird pieces of thin metal.

Thanks for the info! I found a set of keys at Walmart for about $5.00 that will do the job fine. Thanks again!!!

Hey folks! Have a 97 215 EC for a about 2 months now and having a blast. I do have one question though. When starting how long does your alarm sound? Ours is a solid tone until the engine fires up. Also, any opinion on gear lube? I have read varing opinions. I have a slight leak and add a little (~1 oz) to the monitor bottle now and then. When I went to the marina they said I shouldn't worry and just handed me a bottle of Quicksilver.

Thanks

Has anyone installed a windless on A 215 EC? If so how did you go around the nav. light? If so, can you post a pic please?

Any 215EC guys out there try using a shoot through transducer for a fish finder? If so, how does it work?

i have fishing rod holders in the side gunwales of my boat...i use a Magma grill mount that fits into one of the rod holders...this positions the grill above the side of the boat and out of the way of the cockpit....the mount i have has adjustments that lock the mount into the rod holder so it does not spin and also allows for adjusting the grill to whatever angle is needed.....this is a link to the mount i use...it works very well....

i have had a few recent requests for a list of the modifications i have done to my 1998 215EC....i love to 'tinker' with cars and trucks (and now boats) and usually just cannot leave well enough alone.....i am always thinking of ways to make things 'better' on my boat so that my wife and i can better enjoy our time spent on it....these modifications include upgrading existing items as well as adding new items...i am by no means a professional fabricator, but the majority of the changes have turned out pretty well if i do say so myself....

if you are interested send me your email address at cliffa1955@gmail.com or through a PM here on CSR and i will send you the list as a MS Word doc.....if any of the mods peak your interest and you want more info just let me know....i tried to attach the list here but the file size is too large.....:wow:

i was thinking about just making several posts with pics and a description of what the pic is showing...as soon as i uncover the boat (which should be soon :smt038) and get it ready for this year's boating season i will take some pics of the mods and post them.....

here are some pics of a cockpit table i made that hinges on the captain's seat grab rail.....we never liked the positioning and the size/shape of the OEM cockpit table...when the OEM table was installed it made it difficult to get up and down from the starboard side rear jump seat plus it took a little time and effort to gather all the pieces and set it up....this new table sets up in seconds and allows plenty of room between the jump seat.....

here are some of the changes in cabin.....you see the 24" NAXA TV...the wall jack under the left speaker is connected to the TV's headphone jack...i connected a cable from this jack to an A/B selector switch so that i can switch between the TV and the Sirius satellite radio as the input source for the stereo's AUX input....you can also see a drink holder i made for our favorite adult beverages while we watch a movie......on the right side of the pic you can see part of the insect screen that is rolled up while in storage....more details and pics of the insect screen to follow....you can also see the galley and storage in the head compartment...
