Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

That sounds like something even I could handle....I've had it with foul smells wafting over the rear cockpit every time the head if flushed. Thanks for the information...I'm off to buy the filter.
Mine was straight forward. Just two connectors on each end of the vent. The filter is on top of the head system. There is a strap holding the filter in place. I undid the strap, unscrewed the connectors, took a deep breath (it does not smell nice when you remove the old filter) and removed the old filter. I dropped it into a plastic bag. Reverse the process to install the new one. I had my wife flush the head a couple of times to make sure we were not getting any smells and made sure the connectors were tight.
As with all maintenance jobs in the bilge I find it would be easier if I was 4 feet high, extremely thin, with 6 foot arms but I guess you cannot have everything

I didn't see any replies to this question...did replacing the filter eventually eliminate the smell when flushing the head?
Although I have replaced the SaniGard Holding Vent Tank filter in my 340 Sundancer after you flush there is still a smell.
Anyone come across this and if so how was it resolved?

Thanks

Yes it did. We don't get the smell anymore. I think that I over-filled the head with water the last time I had it pumped out which probably got into the filter and rendered it useless.
New filter corrected the issue.

Thanks IanLockwood...much appreciated.

I have tried searching through all of the threads to get some assistance with replacing the clarion xmd1 and amp on my 2003.5 340. I have pulled the radio but getting at the wiring harness and amp looks like I need to take the electrical panel apart to gain access.

I have a snake camera that gave me a good idea of where the amp is located and the wiring in front of an next to it. Anyone ever go through e replacement exercise or can point me to threads of how best to tackle this upgrade/replacement? Thanks!

The amps for mine are located under the pull out couch in the salon. I just pull the couch all the way out and access to them is super easy. Hope this helps.

I have SeaStar tilt helm and hydraulic steering on my 2005 340 Sundancer. I checked the hydraulic fluid level and it looks low. Does any one know if I can use Quicksilver Power Trim & Steering fluid to top it up?

BabyB, Open your electrical panel and look inside just a hair forward, you should see 2 amps mounted on the starboard wall, Have fun getting access to those puppies.

Re: Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundacer Thread

Yes the filler cushion used the table. Slide the table into the groves in the rear horse shoe seating area. Then snap the cushion to the table and the seating area. need help - look for the snap on the seating area new the removable step cushion. As a side note when storing the filler cushion it could be snap onto a cooler for an extra seat in the cabin.

There are three amps in some 340's the cabin amp is located behind the electrical panel. the other are under the cabin bench seat one is 1000 watt while the other is just for the sub woofer; but also large in size - I have replace all of mine except the sun woofer amp

What shore power connections do you use when a transient? (2) 30 AMP?, (1) 50 amp? (Assuming you have that y-adapter?) Is one any better than the other? I don't have a 30-50 AMP y-adapter is it worth getting? Advantages???

Mark, It really depends on what the transient marina's electrical set up is. I do have the splitter set up because at my marina they only have one receptacle at the power distribution box. The Splitter is about $250-$300 at wm. IMHO it would give you options.

Usually I know the marina I'm going to, so I just take my spare 30amp cords. Haven't done it yet but if I go to an unfamiliar marina I will take the spares as well as my 50amp cord with the adapter.

My mechanic was adamant that only a fluid specific to the SeaStar hydraulic steering system be used; i.e., the Quicksilver fluid should not be used. A quart of the SeaStar stuff set me back $25 at the local marine store. Fill the reservoir to within 1/2 inch of the top and you're good to go.

I use a single 30 amp, splitting it in the aft compartment. With only one air conditioner, I've never had any issues with over loading the single 30A unit. If, however, you plan on microwaving, air conditioning, using the stove, making coffee, and blow drying your hair.....use both cords. (I don't have hair and have the discipline to not attempt to do everything at once.)

Good idea.. I don't use Microwave, Stove, or blow dryer either. I do like A/C and coffee in the AM.

You can pick up an adapter on ebay or craigslist for around $130. Well worth it. I run my two 30 amp cords to one 50
