Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

my only problem is my windlass so im waiting to hear from sea ray to see if i can jump out the windlass solenoid with a new power supply.

If it’s just the anchor activation circuit, then maybe you can swap the wire at the EIM cable splice to an unused circuit like the ACC1, ACC2, or Water Pump. I believe there is a wire schematic in the 340 Owners Manual.

Oh that’s a good idea also thank you for that. Yea once I get power to it I’ll know if it’s just the anchor button and maybe the up and down buttons still work or the whole thing

Did you try just jumping across the solenoid? It may just be a failed/stuck solenoid...

No that is my next step though. I haven’t had a second to get on the boat. Gonna try later in the week. Everything is pointing to either the solenoid or eim module. Hopefully it’s the solenoid

I posted on the other thread that I really doubt it is the EIM. Since you heard clicking when you hit the switch it more that likely is activating EIM relay circuit. Without power in the circuit the keypad light will not come on. The keypad is basically a CANBUS switch like you find in cars (like the controls on the steering wheel for the stereo).

After doing a whole lot of research on the matter I’m agreeing with what your saying, just need a second to jump out the solenoid. Hopefully Thursday or Friday I’ll have time

Also it’s the aft eim I hear clicking when trying to press the anchor button not the one under the dash. Sea ray told me the forward one is for starboard switchpad, aft is for port. However that’s not what I see in the wiring diagrams

Kevin do u know how the solenoid is wired? I think it’s four posts two high amp and two low amp for the switch. Just need to figure out which of the low amp posts get positive and ground connections

Low amps are the smaller wires and posts i would think the ground is black.
BTW, if you reply to my message I will get a notification.

Oh ok sorry, yea I have to check the colors on there I believe they are color coded from the eim harness.

On my 06 340, the Port switch pad controls the forward EIM. Maybe you will get lucky and just find a loose or dirty connection. :)

Depth finder is reading blank or two "dashes" so it has power. Any idea where to start? I am on an inland lake. Will lake crud cause the transducer to not read? Going to try brushing off the transducer for starters. Also, will be pulling the boat to change props in the next two weeks if that is an opportunity to inspect for issues. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Has anyone added a water tank and/or city water spin on filter?

My screens before the pump are clogging up before I can get through a tank of water. I have since added a RV inline filter at the dock spigot and 3/4" hose gasket screens to city water connection and hoses going to them. Clearly with the high water on Lake Ontario we are having a problem with the dock water because these screens are clogging up quick. I think my fresh water tank is contaminated now with whatever is in the water. I'm treating the tank with a cup of beach each fill up. Even the water saver/reducer on the galley sink gets clogged up and I have to remove and clean. Any suggestions would be welcomed!

I am running a culligan house filter that I frequently replace the filter cartridges inside. I can post a pic of how I made it tomorrow for you if u would like

Where did you put it?

I use a whole house filter (spin on with cartridge) at my dock and when I travel I use the Camco RV inlines (which get replaced each year - I buy the multipacks). Been doing this for years to prevent "junk" getting into our fresh water systems. I also work off tank water for our day to day use to keep them flushing through (unless I am at dock and want the water pressure to shower). I try my best to keep our tank and lines in great shape. Years ago a friend told be about horror stories about clogs in his lines due to sediment.
