Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

I screwed it to a piece of plywood so wouldn’t wiggle around while I drilled the holes

Still have some trimming to do but it looks pretty good if I do say so myself. Lol

Good Morning All. It's nice seeing everyone keeping their 98 290's up and running and maintained. Got a few items today that need sorting.

1) The bathroom faucet is not performing like it should. The water seems to be restricted and I can't find what the problem is so I need some assistance. I removed the head checked for any debris and also removed one of the knob valve assemblies to look down into the body and found nothing. Looked under the sink to make sure the flexible line wasn't kinked and everything looked fine. I even hooked the boat up to shore water which has really good pressure and nothing changed. BTW the galley sink is performing great. Is there a screen somewhere in the system?

2) While I was under the bathroom sink I noticed that there is a 1/4 turn valve on the AC through hull discharge. Never seen this before. Is that to be used when winterizing to keep antifreeze in the system?

3) Does anyone have a set of OEM stainless steel props around to borrow/purchase? They have to be serviceable/repairable. I'm looking to get an extra set (even if I have to get them repaired before use) so I can change mine out to get repaired. I have the twin 5.0 alpha 1 setup if that makes any difference. What size and spec should be on my boat when new?

BTW was out on a nice calm Tennessee River yesterday zipping around while wide open...... it's nice to have a 21 year oil boat that still performs well. The sounds of the twins were marvelous. :)

The soft hose inside the metal flex casing might have kinked, mine did. You could unscrew the faucet and see if you get full pressure from the line but I bet it’s the rubber interior hose.

The shutoff is probably just for safety, mine has it too, but probably can help keep AF in there too

Ducky. I thought i had a prop issue when i first got my 98 290. I called sea ray and gave them my hull #. They were able to give me the props size and pitch that came with it out of the factory. I purchased 2, 4 blade aluminium props off e bay to run for a bit then went back to my ss stock ones. Give them a call and they should help

What size did they recommend?

Im not sure but think it was a 17p. I put 15 x 15 4 blade on and it did run great. They were cheap but aluminum. Just make sure you get a LH and RH. Always a good idea to have a extra set on boat for that o shit moment. Plus its under $500 for entire set

Mine has harness connectors about 2 feet away in a bundle going down the starboard wall behind the helm.

Mine is the same except there is another harness of wires that don’t have a plug but the job is done. Only took about a hour to install all the gauges. Not too bad really.

anyone done seadek, marinemat, or another altermative on the swimplatform and or in the cockpit? looking for options.

Eva decking from eBay. Pia to cut but cheap

Here’s a picture of how I keep the rain out of the lazarette and bilge. I didn’t modify the oem canvas, the snaps all still work without the flap
