Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

I figured it out.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N6MZHT5/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm going to use the linked mount (above) and make a base and attach a threaded pipe flange and a short piece of pipe from the local hardware store ...... this base then can be attach to the shelf by screws or just hook and loop. I'm going to keep the little feet on the TV making it have a 3 point stance.

I went back and fourth on wall mounts and I just could not bring myself to drill into the walls. :(

Well I bought the little 19" TV from Best Buy...... fits nicely on the shelf but I just need to figure out a way to secure it since it does not have a weighted base like some other TV's.... it just has little legs. Picture, sound and tuner strength so much better than the 10 year old SANYO the previous owner had.

I mounted mine to the bow mirror liquid nails small 2x4 then put flat tv mount

My 98 290 has the B floor plan so my v berth is set up as a permanent bed. I was thinking another good place to mount a small TV would have been on the closet door. Replace the mirrored door with another piece of material and mount the TV right to that and make the door still usable to get into the closet.

This is my little TV mount for the shelf. Weighted just enough to give the TV some stability and then I used some hook and loop on the pipe flange to secure it to the shelf.

Does anyone know the approximate square footage of the cockpit area? I'm trying to get a rough idea of how much a decking install is going to be.

Thanks.

I need to be educated please.

I need to replace the engine water pump on one of my 1998 5.0's. When running it slings water. :(

The engine manual doesn't have any part numbers listed (or I just can't find the right page)...... and when I look online I find that water pumps seem to be very common across a variety of different motors and some designate they are designed for composite timing belt covers, metal timing belt covers....or they say for both.

So in 1998 what is our timing belt covers made from?

What size is the serpentine belt?

What's part number or the proper name for the adjustment pulley/idler pulley.

I live away from the boat so I would like to have these items in hand before removing the old parts.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just ended up ordering all my parts from my local marina parts counter. All prices were very comparable to online prices except the pump. All parts were Mecruiser OEM so the pump was a little bit more then the Sierra's and the other brands I came across on line.

I'm going to add one to the "todo" list.

I would like to add a TV antenna to the arch and of course run the cable down inside to where the TV sits on the shelf.

For those that have done this is there a straight forward wire run down the left hand side of the arch through the aft cabin to the back of the TV area?

I'm thinking of this one:

Hello all! New owner of a 2000 290DA. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, and we are excited to dig in and make it our own. Really appreciate all the good info I have been reading here and can’t wait to learn more.

**GONE** I am replacing the camper back on my '99/290 with a drop curtain. If someone would like my old SS frame just let me know, its located in Edgewood, MD. Original tan canvas is old, has a small patch, but is presentable. P/U only, limited time. ***GONE (along w/ the old enclosure, thanks Ducky for setting this up)***

After our starboard rebuild and a few new parts (2 new alternators, iac, belts, plugs, cap, wires, rotor, distributor) we’re pretty dialed in now. The ‘original’ motor still doesn’t accelerate like the new one, so I’m going to check fuel pressure, but once on plane she runs great. Below is a shot from the gateways in a 1-1.5’ chop. 1.7 nMPG is pretty damn good in my book

Another project I finally finished. Really like how it sits, gotta take a test run without the motor on it first.

Ignore the milkshake water, we got crushed with rain so the river has a ton of runoff. Usually blue and clear
