How old and what kind of inverter (battery charger) do you have?

I know the previous owner of the 290 I purchased installed a new one years ago and it has indicator lights and a digital read out on battery health and charge.

Also how old are you batteries?

While you are checking everything else give your batteries a good test as well.

I actually bought a battery tester this year so I wouldn't have to take my cars to the auto parts store or dealer to get tested. It's small and portable so when I test my boat batteries later this month I wont have to lift them out of the hole to take them anywhere.

I am assuming that the inverter is original with the boat.... So about 20 yrs....Not sure what kind it is, but I will check over the weekend.
The batteries are about 3 years old, but I never had an issue previously.
Good idea on the battery tester...

Sounds like the charger died and the batteries discharged to 10vDC from sitting. If you don't see a voltage jump up to 13-14.5v once the charger is powered up then it's not doing its job on the DC side. Does your charger have a volt meter on the front? My old one before I replaced it was a C-Charger which I would assume was OEM, and it had both AC and DC meters so I could see if it was outputting any juice.

I tried to find pics of the install but couldn't quickly. We replaced it with a pronautic 1220p and I love it. I installed it right in place of the old but put in new battery leads. Amazon was the best price

Easy install, wires were long enough to make connections and I screwed it right into the bulkhead in the same spot. Like most things in that bilge, you have to contort yourself a little bit to get good access. If you can manage I would see if you can connect the wires before screwing it to the bulkhead, it might save you some frustration.

LDII has the same ProMariner 63120 installed.

its a great charger. I'm going to put the remote monitor panel in at the helm this year I think.

So I was able to get on the boat today.... the "C-Charger" gauge was reading zero... so I assume no output to batteries..... One final question before I go buy another one.....
Is there anything between the A/C panel, and the charger... ie a breaker ???
    Thanks for all the info....

Yep, she’s dead. I think the breaker is in the breaker panel above the battery switches but I don’t remember for sure if one is in there

    Good evening folks.

I might be in need to change out my batteries this year. I noticed this past weekend all 3 are 5 years old and I drained the 2 house/port batteries in about 5 hours with cabin lights, engine room lights and stereo on..... and ..... mistakenly having the shore power turned off. o_O.

So question to the group. Right now they are flooded batteries....... stick with the same or is the in thing to do is upgrade to the AGM type?

I have a pronautic charger already installed so I can select either charging applications.

I bought 3 Walmart group 27’s two years ago and they’re still chugging along just fine. I also have the pronautic charger and check the water levels weekly. We don’t spend nights on the hook often but we’ll go 12-15 hours away from the dock without giving much thought to power conservation (radio, lights, fridge, phone chargers, etc) and have not had a problem.

    Good to know.

Next time I visit LDII I'm going to test the batteries to see how much life is left in them before replacing.

I do. We have the 5.7 alphas and I run aluminum quicksilver Diamond4's 14x20. I went aluminum last year to see how they performed (they're cheap) and I am very happy with them. We'll probably stay in this boat for a year or two so I'm going to just stick to them but if you went SS you'd probably want to drop the pitch a couple degrees. My WOT is 4600.

Our numbers, fully loaded all gear, 2 adults, 100% water, 100% fuel, no waste, calm day:

    7mph 1200RPM
    8mph/1600RPM
    9mph/2000RPM
24.4mph/3000 (on plane, full tab, drives tucked)
28mph/3400 (this is our preferred cruise, boat is very happy here and only needs minimal tab, drives brought up to lowest mark on the trim gauge)
    38-39mph/4600

We dropped a few mph on the top, holeshot is slightly better but she stays up on step much nicer now. slow speed handling is slightly improved too.

Stock should have been Mercury Vengeance 3 blade 19 pitch stainless. I still have ours as backups but we needed to turn 3400+ to stay on plane properly.

The pic of our boat below was taken at about 2900 RPM doing 22-23 mph. If you click the link you can see the wake that we're just barely on plane. That is will full tabs down as well as drives, it's comfortable and the motors sound good but I feel like it's plowing just a bit at that speed

Here we go, the wood boards were for the test fit. Starboard cut to match the patternis next and then I’ll mount the plates before laying down our seadek.
