Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Congrats. you're gonna love the boat! Hope the purchase goes smoothly. couple of things worth noting;

- Never mention the use of a portable generator on a boat in this forum.....just don't
- An iPad is a great backup device, but not suitable for a primary nav system. They are difficult to see in bright light, and they tend to over-heat and shutdown when used in the cockpit.

I went all Garmin when I did my refit. Here's what that looks like on your year of 310;

I did the same Garmin in the same location and live it!

So I'm in the process of getting rid of carpet in the cabin and going with antique White Holly by Plastic so the next thing on the list is the steps. I'm open for ideas or better yet pictures.I would like to do get rid of the carpet on the steps as well.

Did you have to do a lot of sanding and/or filling after you pulled up the carpet?

Because I'm going back in with a vinyl sheet product similar to linoleum I'm using a 1/2" sub floor. Vinyl flooring like what I'm using will transfer any bumps so it's better to go with a sub floor plus it will help deaden the sound that the carpet use to.

I just bought a 2000 Sundancer 310. Have a couple of questions to get me started:
1.I am missing a port camper side curtain. Is it possible to get a used side curtain and, if not, suggestions on where to go?

2. Looking for an owners manual.

3. Any pictures of the cockpit table? I think the one I have is not the correct one due to how it fits.

4. No TV. Any pictures of how you all changed your TV and mounted in the same box?

I just saw a tan curtain set on eBay. If u have an original Great Lakes too, u can just call them and they can send u one. As for TV, I’m going through same thing. Will prob mount a 32 above aft cabin. Then I will do something with that area.

3. The cockpit table should be able to be lowered, and using a smaller silver support bar, turn the rear area into a lounger.

4. A 32” tv fits great on a swivel arm covering the port open storage area...originally a tv on a slide out drawer. A second option is above the aft bunk. I dont like that one and will be moving that to inside the aft bunk so kids can have their own.

Camper back wasn't a factory option from Sea Ray.
It has to be made by a canvas shop.

If you end up getting/making a template for the subfloor, I will happily pay you a copy.

1. Do you mean the slant-back enclosure? 'Camper' denotes a full camper enclosure which would be custom made. If you have the factory slant back, you can order the curtain from http://rnr-marine.com/SeaRay.shtml

2. You can download the manuals for most SeaRays from https://www.searay.com/page.aspx/pageid/162289/Owners-Resources.aspx

3. Don't have any pictures handy but you can search https://www.yachtworld.com for your year and look at the pictures of each boat. I've found this to be a great source of pictures of various features.

4. Many of us have mounted an articulating mount inside the TV box, and attached a flatscreen to it. The one I used is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DAMSTNO/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thank you for the responses. I took possession of the boat on Saturday. There are some items that need to be worked on but we love the boat. I've been reading through the years of posts in this thread.

My under cabinet rope lighting appears to be not lighting up entirely. Has anyone replaced their rope lighting? Is it difficult to do?

Ok so I’m looking at buying a 310da 2000. This boat has not had the water lift mufflers installed on it. It’s horizon v-drives 350 mpi. I talked with my local sea ray dealer and they told me that the water lift mufflers he could not find a part number or even a break down of the parts list. I wanted to include this in my offer because I know that this upgrade to the exhaust system is what I believe to be the main solution to the water inversion issue that the 310s where notorious for. I know reading through the posts that some one posted that they did it and it cost around 1600. One other option I have heard of is dry joint exhaust manifolds. I guess my question to you guys is what is a better solution, changing the manifolds to the dry joint style or changing the entire exhaust system over to water lift mufflers when I have no part numbers to start with. Also side note engines have 700 hours and I have had them surveyed, starboard engine has 35psi lower compression on cylinder 5 than the rest, planning on running and re-testing in the spring once the boat is in the water.

It will have the water lift mufflers with part#s.
As far as cyl #5 having lower compression sounds like water has gotten into that cylinder either from a bad riser or gaskets or reversion.
The 2 center cylinders lie right under the riser and are the first cylinders to get water in them when a riser or riser gaskets go bad usually causing damage to the valves and valve seats causing low compression.

Thanks so much for the info! Trying to arm myself with knowledge before I go back to the broker. Hope everything with this boat goes through. Supper excited to get it in the water and run it to see how it handles. That and for the never ending winter that is Michigan end lol.

I'm hoping member ArtWallach is still monitoring this group. My 2000 310 sliding door is messed up. I need to replace the tracks, truck and catcher. I read a post awhile back from Art where he was replacing his components. Has anyone done this? I heard the catcher was not being made. Are there instructions anywhere than anyone knows of? It looks doable, just not sure how.
