Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I found and bought a used Swimplatform for my 89 300 DA. It's here and I'm anxious to get it installed. I'm trying to gather all the required stuff so that I can accomplish it in a day or two. Mine did not come with any bolts. I can probably figure the diameter based on the holes in the swimplatform. Any idea how long should those be?? Best way to seal up the old holes? 5200? And what do I use to seal the newly drilled holes and transom? 4200? Just hoping to confirm my thoughts and save my transom! I'm not sure I can bear to drill 16 holes back there!! I know it will be worth it however.

Thanks in advance!

Anybody have any recommendations on backing to the bolts? Are the factory supports enough? 4200 and 5200 or just straight silicone in all the holes??

Hey everyone - I just purchased a 1989 268 Sundancer, picking it up this weekend after getting it de-winterized. Any helpful tips to look out for would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to join up and introduce myself here. Just picked up an 87 weekender 300 a few weeks ago and really enjoying it. Looking forward to replicating some of your projects for updating the cabin.

Started my sea deck floor for the seating area now. Over winter I plan to have the v bunk and dinette cushions re covered. After that I plan to update the flooring in the cabin and just update and clean.
Nice looking boat!

Just spent another great 3 day weekend on lake powell it was my 3 rd weekend out already this year love my 88 300 sundancer but no luck with the windlass yet operator error lol maybe just go back to the old fashion way and throw the anchor

I just want to drop a note. After my ICM toasted it's self I'm pulling that whole system off the boat. No more Thunderbolt screw ups.

I dropped a DUI distributer in with 8mm plug wires and tossed my coil, Thunderbolt, and all that wiring out!

Now to do the other side

I'd seal the drilled holes with epoxy then use 4200 on the bolts. I'd use large fender washers on the bolts or starboard backing plated to spread the load.

Hi... I'm new to this forum and to boating. Here is some pics of my new old 79 weekender 300. I also posted a video somewhere on this site as well

Manual pump toilet conversion to an electric unit? My 87 300 is already wired for it, so I don't think it would be difficult to accomplish and I am tired of replacing the manual pump seals twice a year to keep them working. Anything I should keep my eye on when making this change?

I just burned up a thunderbolt 4 on mine replaced with a used one for $150. Do you have a link to the setup you swapped it with? With the price of a new second gen thunderbolt 4 there is no reason not to go to an all in one step. If either of mine go again that’s my plan just not sure what setup to go with.

I ordered a complete DUI setup from JEGS. Another member here suggested the DUI. When I get home tonight I will look up the prices and part numbers

Well just found water in my oil in my starboard motor pull motor not saveable exhaust manorial bad heads bad block to bad to resleeve so ordered a new long block thinking about biting the bullet and just do both any thoughts

Been there, done that. I replaced with new crate engines. I did one at a time as my budget wouldn't permit both at once. If you can afford it, may be a good idea to do them both at once.

Has anyone here measured the dimensions of the deck on an 87 Weekender 300? Figuring out how much foam flooring to order and I can't get to my boat until a few days from now.

Thanks!
