I can't make up my mind if I should wait or get a early start on getting things ready for the season. The monthly forecast say nothing below mid 50's here in sunny Ohio.

I'd get started on the dewinterizing. Even if you got a cold night it's not likely to stay cold or get cold long enough to freeze things.

Theres still alot of rain that will come from now until launch... can you cut a door in the shrinkwrap and work on things inside?

Just to piggy back on the same topic, I've seen some pics of boats who have the shrink wrap just to the rub rail. I wish I knew this was possible as I could get some bottom work done or even a wax and polish without fully removing the shrink wrap.

Mines coming off April 4. Dewinterizing, installing new upholstery, detailin, taking care of some odds and ends. Splashing the weekend of the 9th or 16th....I have the bug bad and these 75 degree days aren't helping anything

I am with you Tony, it's all I thought about this week, my schedule splash is w/o April 19th. 70 degrees on Sunny Long Island in March !! I shop wit means an early start to the season

Dean most colored hulls are shrink wrapped from the rub rail up to keep th shrink wrap from beating the snot out of the color. mine is 1/2 wrapped. But with a door I've been working in there all winter when it's 40 and above I'm now itching t launch!!!!

I'm going to request it next season. At least I have access to the engine room. Can do some tinkering. Launch date is 4/11!

I need to fit new canvas, install a new charger, and wax everything. Well definetly get cold again so I might not dewinterize yet but I'm ready to cut the wrap back very soon. I figure if they call for snow I could always strap a tarp over the cockpit cover.

Dean,
I usually cut just the back out of the shrink wrap from the arch to the swim platform. If I leave it wrapped around the arch and around the swim platform it will stay in place on the rest of the boat. That way I can work inside the boat, get the hatch up for access to the engine room but most of the boat is still protected by the shrink wrap from rain, sun and trees (boat stays at my parents so trees are an issue in the spring) until I am ready to wash and wax. I don't go in until May so I still have another month and a half to get things done. Today was a teaser though that's for sure.

Our boat was put away washed, polished and waxed with the bottom painted. In west Michigan, you really don't know what the weather is going to be beyond maybe ten days out. You do know there is a good chance of snow between now and the first week of April. We have been taking advantage of this fantastic Spring weather to get our yard cleaned up and ready to go for summer. Patio furniture is out, going to power wash the dock in a week. Then the first week of April, we will look at the ten day forecast. If favorable, we will launch and bring the boat home on a nice sunny warm day and get the lines properly set for the coming six months.

I have been working on mine the last few days. Been up close to or over 70 degrees here in Southwest Michigan.

Well, I took the chance.... 71º on March 8th in Minnesota with 50's - 70's predicted the rest of the month. Even if we get snow it's unlikely to be significant. I office from my home and store my boat 3 minutes away so I can brush away any heavy snow.

Looking good. We'll be putting up the canopies on the boat house on Saturday and turning on the bubbler. Can't wait.
