NuTeak Observations after a Season of Use

Does it get hot? Yes. Have I or any of my crew ever burnt their feet? No. How many times did it get hot last season that it needed a quick spray of water? Maybe twice?

Putting the Plasdeck on my boat was $14,000 well spent with no regrets. Worth every penny for the appearance, durability, feel under foot, added sound insulation, and not having to deal with carpets!

Not directly however the website suggests sanding when a stain will not wash off.
Give them a call. They may have another solution, but I wouldn't be afraid of sanding. Not much material comes off.

I guess I forgot to mention that I only take my boat out and night so I wouldn't have the heating problem as Tides Inn leave a slip open for me to pull into after dark. Best as I stated before best up grade I've made in my opinion and it was very inexpensive as I only spent just under $15,000 for the work I had done. I know of no dark materials that want soak up the sun rays and generate a higher temperature than white fiberglass. When we replaced all of our canvas we went back with White material rather than the mild brown that came on the boat and yes than would make my bridge cooler than anyone with Black or any other darker color but those are all personal choices which everyone has to make. As stated before if and when I get my next boat, other than mechanical upgrades Nuteak will be my first upgrade.

Hey Paul,

Fully realizing this thread is a few years old at this point, I have a quick question if you... How has the synthetic teak held up w/ the dogs? We're considering the same project and have a 90lb and very active 2 year old lab.

Thanks!
Doug

Hey Doug,
The Nu Teak takes dogs fine. You get some surface scratches that seem to wear out. The stuff lived though our lab and now has to stand up to the demands of a couple of active (and handsome) Austalian Shepherds who were under 1 year old for most of last season.

I love not having carpet to catch their hair!

Paul
