Can't believe I'm confessing this but here goes................

Finally put boat in sat morn 4am (tides),get to the ramp remove straps everything goes great..........take her for a quick spin.....seems to be running fine...gets up to temp.......cool !

But ,something in the back of my mind is telling me its running fine but not great.........oh well , put it on the mooring and go to work..........sundays a wash rain and wind all day

Today its raining again ,but I cant get the boat off my mind.........as I said "fine but not great" , just realized, and I"m 99% sure .............I left the earmuffs on !!!!! :smt021

they are the kind with the adjustable pin so odds are they didnt fall off .....I'll find out momentarly as I'm on my way to the boat now

p.s.
if you tell anyone ,I'll deny it !!! :smt101
p.p.s.
do I get the idiot of the year award or what ???!!!

do I get the idiot of the year award or what ???!!!

Depends on whether you left the muffs on? and whether you admit to it here or not?

I love how the brain works,

I was teaching the girlfriend how to water ski this weekend. She was doing well but kept pulling herself forward. I couldnt figure out why. I did notice when she was in the water I kept thinking her arms did not look right, had two other people in the boat who are experienced skiers as well.

This mornign I wake up and BINGO! she was keeping her palms to her chest! :smt021

Where's wingtard? He would lecture you on how he would never do such a thing because he is sooooo smart.

You may want to check the impeller... That's the kind of thing that will smoke it.

Was the garden hose attached?

JK

I bet if it's the Quicksilver unit with the pin that goes through, that you may be OK. It will still pull water through the garden hose inlet, but obviously restricted. I agree with Gary that you should check the impeller just in case it was starved. If I had to guess though I bet you are OK.

Good luck.

YES I must have left them on,as I cant find them anywhere around .........took it for a 45 min cruise and everything is GREAT !! How lucky am I !! Thank you I will keep an eye on temp ,just put a new impeller in about a week ago....I'm assuming when I got it up on plane they fell off cause they're not on the outdrive now.......

The other possibility is that they're laying in your driveway, still attached to the garden hose because they came off as you pulled away... did you turn the water off? :smt101

Glad your boat is OK - now we can laugh!

I ran my boat all day once with the same style muffs on the outdrive. They spread open enough and I never got a hi temp alarm. You'll be fine...

have not done that since... :smt038
