Is anyone going this Sunday from 4pm to 8pm? Turtle? Dancing Dave? Seagull? H2O? you guys are close...

It is at Sheffield Island. I have never been, but I paid my fifty bucks today and am looking forward to the event. Jessica Moore was very helpful and mentioned that she thought there were over 100 boats last year. We are to contact them via vhf and join the raft up. They are tendering us to shore. I hope it is as fun as it sounds.

Let me know if you uys are going to we could meet!

Mark

Thats around the corner for me. We will be boating on Sunday weather being OK.
Is this a marinemax thing?
Can anyone come?
Searays only?
What does the fifty bucks get?
Thanks,
Mark.

My same questions were answered in an e-mail response below. I called today and gave Jessica a credit card number instead of a check. I hope you decide to go.

"Good morning Mark,

I can absolutely answer theses questions for you. Everyone is invited even those people who didn’t purchase a boat from Marinemax Surfside 3. This event has a lot to offer the entire boating community, so of course we want everyone to participate in the festivity. Because this is the world largest boating extravaganza will be having games for the kids such as a scavenger hunts, tug of wars and lots of other fun activities. We also have music, the opportunity to win lots of fun giveaways, and food will also be provided for your enjoyment. All the festivities will be on the island, but we will have our own boat going back and forth periodically, so that you will be able to enjoy your boat with your fellow boaters. With everything that we are offering we are asking that you pay a small fee of $50. We do ask that you send in your checks prior to the event to our Westchester office located in New Rochelle. All of that information is below, so if you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to give me a call or email.

Thank you,
Jessica Moore

I had signed up originally when the thing was scheduled for Saturday the 19th. Unfortunately when they moved it to the 20th, I had already made plans to be elsewhere that day.

We went last year, it was OK we got a couple of burgers and my kid got a tube that says Sea Ray, it killed a few hours. But not to sound cheep but this year to spend $50 bucks for some burgers, I am not sold yet. I guess I don't blame them for charging (boat sales are slow) but I can have my own raft up and buy some fillet mignon and BBQ them myself for the same money... Maybe I am getting cheep in my old age, but I wouldn't hesitate going to Long Island for lunch and spending $200+ in gas. If anyone would like to join our FREE raft up I will be in Zieglers on Saturday and probably Cockenoe on Sunday!! By the way it is BYOF (Bring Your Own Fillet) VHF 69

we were thinking of heading up that way on saturday. forgot all about the palooza things this weekend. If we make it up that far, I'll hail you on 69.

SeaGull and H2O, too bad timing didn't work. Next time I plan a river trip I'll give ya'll a call.

Hope to see you TT and Air O. Still haven't heard from DDave.

Larry - I am curious on this event and my wife has agreed to try one, so off we go. She won't sleep on the boat, so this is one of the only options we can do together. I hope it is fun. I enjoy meeting other boaters, especially Sea Ray owners. I was hoping to meet other CSR members in person there. I hope that still happens..

Mark

I will most likely be there.
Selling the idea to my wife and kids.
We will be living aboard all weekend anyway.

There have been (last week)big red jellys in the water around here. Too many to swim! We moved to Oyster Bay LI and there was none. Sure hope they have moved on as a dry rafting party in the heat isn't any fun.

I am trying to bring three other boat with me to increase the party. Now there are 75 boats signed up to attend.
should be fun.
Mark.

If there is a shuttle boat, I assume this is also on land somewhere? Is it accesible by car? I might be able to sneak away for a bit in the am...

Sorry Mark,
The shuttle is going from the raft up to the island. There is no bridge to sheffield island.
My boss isn't thrilled to be part of a 100 boat raft party. What if someone wants to leave, ect? (i do hate strangers crossing over my boat)
We will be there anyway.
A friend may join us as well (Formula41pc).
fun,fun,fun,
Mark.

Hey dudes. We are here. We are anchored in a little cove off chimon 1 island. Standing by on channel 69. Anchoring for the night.

Guys - sorry for posting the wrong time, it is 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Jessica sent out an e-mail with more info also.

TT and Air O - I will see you there!

Did I read this correctly. They are charging $50 per boat to attend the Aquapalooza event?
Wow.
We attended Aquapalooza o the Chesapeake Bay today.
Pork BarBQ, Hot Dogs, drinks, Tee Shirts, Coozees, Sea Ray Float Rings. 2 Live Bands. Sea Ray Caps. ALL FREE. No admission Charge, didnt even have to own a Sea Ray.
I was under the understanding that Sea Ray and the Dealer sponsor the event. This was our 2nd year for this one and it was just as good as the last. Even the bands were good.
I guess we are fortunate to get all that for free.

You read correctly - Since I have never been, I did not know they were ever free.....

It was very memorable for me alright! No really it was ok, but my wife had a little mishaps. We took the dingy to shore once we rafted up and got things settled. While we swam a bit, a MarineMax person showed us a bottle they had for jellyfish bites at the beach. Within one hour of the event, a young girl was stung, and my wife saw this and knew where the bottle was. She was rushing to help the girls and tripped over a 4 foot anchor on shore :( . She fell and cut up her legs in the rocks around this decorative display. We just came back from the hospital and she has a broken bone in her foot! This put a damper on our day. She basically could not move but the people around were helpful when it happened.

TT and Air O - It was great to meet you and I am disappointed we were not able to spend more time together, but Beth was really hurting and we cut loose about 3:30 and headed back. BTW in case you didnt notice, it was pretty choppy out there on the way home. We should try to get together again before the summer is over. That island is actually a good place to meet people and have a cook out. I really enjoyed the location (other than the anchor).

Next time we will get pics of CSR members in the Northeast!

Mark

WOW, that really sucks! Tell her we wish her well!

YES, it was really snotty out there today. I went for a quick run this afternoon and got hammered in the mouth of the housey, said the hell with this and headed back.

It was fun... We came a day early and anchored in a little cove not far from the raft up to be held the next day.

Here's a pic after my freaky dog fetched her toy 43 times.

As the sun was setting we cooked up some steak and polished off a bottle of wine.

here's a pic as we were entering the beginnings of the raft up. Notice my dog not obeying the no riding on the bow rule.

somewhere in there is boaterboy tending to his wife's injuries.
I tried to tow their dinghy with no success. 2.5 hp on a dinghy with no keel = into the pier.

here's a pic just for Gary on the angle of antenna's in my raft up

It was great meeting and talking to a few CSR members. we broke off at about 5pm because it was getting a little rough. my dog was wiped and the 89 little kids in our raft up were driving us nutty with all of the crying and jellyfish stings.

On the way home, we got the snot beat out of us. I've never been in rougher water. there seemed to be waves on top of waves. I burned twice as much fuel on the way home as I did on the way there. for an hour, I was the only power boat I could see. I don't have any idea how high the waves were but they were freakin' high.

Just back from the boat.
Well now I can say,"Been there done that"
Nice to meet you guys.
Boatrboy, sorry about your wifes foot. I hope shes feeling better very soon.
Just a complete fluke to trip like that..

Turtle, nice pics of my boat but, whos the fat tan guy on the stern...OHH, never mind.
The camera adds five pounds...right?
Too bad we couldn't hang togeather for a bit.

It was way too rough to raft over there. I had a little rubbing with the boat next to me and we both got some scrapes to remember today. After that I lost intrest in going back to shore. My kid were happy enough to swim off the boat and had their fill of hamburgers and hotdogs from before.
Honestly, we may have missed alot by not going back in. It did not look like much was going on there anyway.
Great weekend all in all.
Later,
Mark

I had some concerns about that too - especially since I found out the boat next to me was a Marinemax employee taking a new boat out on the company. I figured it since it wasn't theirs, I better put extra fenders and secure the lines myself for the obvious reasons. The guy next to me (other side) actually forgot to bring lines at all. Thankfully I had enough fenders for that side and extra lines. I was boat lucky as no damage happened. Sorry to hear about the scraps, but hopefully polishing compound this winter will erase the bad memories....

Keep in touch,

Mark

Thanks all for the well wishes for my wife too.
