can anyone tell me how to update a 951x I went to the Northstar web site and I see the downloads. But how do i update the unit.

Do you want to install a later release of the software for your unit?
While I am not familiar with your model Northstar, to install the latest software release on my Northstar 5505 I had to get a card (thru my Sea Ray dealer) from Northstar that gets inserted into the C-Map holder. That card will reflash the unit. I believe my dealer had to order it but the charge was refundable if the card was returned as I recall. Most Sea Ray dealers are Northstar dealers by default (from the days when Brunswick owned Northstar) so you might want to try your dealer first to see what they say. Either that or call Northstar directly and talk to their technicians.

On my M121 I used a SD memory card and down loaded the firmware update directly to it from the web. You might have memory size issues and so not all SD cards will work. I used a one gig chip. I found the update procedure on the web site.
If I recall it was something like go to the user card menu and load the file then restart the unit and it automatically installed.

Northstar returned my call and said I need to buy a cable from them about 40.00. They also said Freeport marine on Long island will do it for 50.00 so that seems to be the easy way to go. Thanks for your help
