I just bought a 1998 240DA with a 5.0L Alpha One. Can someone tell me what the normal operating temperature range of the engine should be? I took it out for my first run and the temp went up to 170 degrees and stayed there with very little change during the entire 1 hour run whether I was at high RPMs or low. I don't have any records of when the impeller was last changed. Thanks in advance for any information.:smt101

My engines run at 170-175 (one engine 170, other 175) rock solid at all RPMS, once the engines are warm. Running rock solid temps at all RPMS from idle to wide open throttle is a symptom of a good running cooling system.

:)

If you don't know when your impeller was last changed. . .it's due for replacement now. I honestly forget the recommended replacement interval. On my boat, I replace every two years.

Since 2000 my 5.0L sticks very close to 170 degrees.

Mine tend to read at 161-163 above idle and will drop to around 158-160 when idling.

Mine is spot on 175 and stays that way. I replace my impeller every year.
