This will be our first time venturing out into the Bay on Mrs. R. We are cruising from Hampton to Cape Charles on Monday, weather/conditions permitting.

It looks like a straight shot North East across and it looks like there is plenty of water going straight across.

For those who have done this trip, any advise? Waypoints? Markers to look for? Compass bearing?

Thanks,

Greg, good to hear you were able to get there OK. You might want to consider doing the Crisfield Crab Derby. It's held over the Labor Day weekend in Crisfield, which is a little further up the bay, but not so much further than Cape Charles. They've got carnival rides, crab races, crab picking contests, Miss Crab beauty pageant, Crab Derby parade, etc. It's all about the crab! The best thing, though, has got to be the boat docking contest. It's wild. I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did. Even my mother-in-law sat through the whole thing. I think I'll start a thread and see if some folks want to meet up there. That's an easy trip for you to make.

I've been to Crisfield a few times. Who in their right mind would want the title "Miss Crustacheon"?

They did have good crab cakes at one of the places there.... It's only about 4 blocks from the marina.

Maybe having that title on a resume helps it stand out?

Everything is pretty near by and most places do a decent job with the crab. There's one place (whose name I can't remember) that's right outside the marina gates that I remember having especially good food. The highlight has got to be the boat docking competition.
