Norcold Fridge DE0061R – Loosing Cooling Ability

Oh man...I really hope you're right. If it works I would be curious to see how long the fridge holds up before another defrosting will be necessary.

It would be nice if more folks would comment, I included the model number thinking that the same units might be installed in number 40'+ SRs. It's very possible that this fridge requires slight adjustment on it's used and maintained compair to others I've owned.

The good thing is that I have a game plan.

Got my Vitrifrigo on June 10th. Haven't defrosted it yet and it doesn't show signs of needing it either. I'll keep you posted when I do. Alex - I hope the door seal thing works for you. Great savings if it does.

Radio Shack. wired in a 12v computer fan to circulate air behind fridge. surprising to see how much heat was back there

Thanks Jeepers,

I've got it on my list of things to test in the event if I have to pool the unit. At this time I'd like to do everything possible to avoid it. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed on defrosting and do extra door seal cleaning. I'll also review if the door needs any adjustment to keep tight seal, but as far as I can tell it closes as it should.

Alex, close the door on a dollar bill at various points all around the seal and see how much effort it takes to pull the bill out. This may help in evaluating seal tightness.

I was never aware of the need to defrost from time to time. Good info.

Good tip, Ron.

I think it should be new Norcold's motto "close the door on the $1 or replace the guts on $1K"....LOL.
