My Norcold DE 541 isn't working right. It only barely cools on its coldest setting. I can hear the compressor kick on when I turn the knob to cold level 5 and here it turn off when I turn it back down, but it just isn't doing the job.
The problem is the same on both AC and DC.
Any ideas about what it can be?
I posted in another forum asking for info on local service places in my area, but I'm waiting for that info.
In the meantime I was wondering if anyone can suggest a replacement (if it comes to that) that will fit in without any modification. My research shows that the replacement is the Norcold DE 0041 which appears to be a little smaller inside, but possibly a hair larger outside dimensions.
I'm not locked in t going with another Norcold if there is a better option out there.
The only thing I am sure I want is another AC/DC model because I probably use it more away from the dock than at the dock and I have no Genny.
Any other 300 Sundancer owners out there that have replaced their fridges with AC/DC models?

Yours lasted longer than mine did. My DE 541 died a couple of months ago. It was not easy to find a replacement with the same dimensions. Also the real limiting factor was the doorway to the cabin. My doorway would only open 19-1/4" which the DE-541 would not go through without disassembly (door off, compressor removed).

I ended up with an Isotherm CR-130 http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|406|10789|322423&id=809783 That said, I still had to pull the door off and loosen the compressor to get it through the doorway. To install it I had to build a new platform (raising it 1-1/4" and build a side panel 1-1/2".

The hardest part was re laminating the side panel. I'm sure there are trim kits which might have made the job easier.

The CR-130 is a nice unit with more interior space. I ended up getting it with a stainless steel door. The DE-541 in my opinion had more cooling power. It could freeze everything in the refrigerator if you set it low enough. The trade-off is that it would also drain the batteries. The CR-130 cools fine and draws a lot less power.
