OK, im pretty good with this stuff, but this issues as got me stumped. I have a 280 DA, 2004. I just upgraded all the speakers, head unit, and amp. Interesting issue, when I turn the radio on, im not getting sound out of the left channel of the amp at first, as I turn the volume up, the sound eventually comes on, and stays on, when I turn it back down, it will randomly start to cut back out. I have tested and checked all my wiring, speakers, etc. Not sure whats up. any one have any ideas before I get the amp replaced? Thanks

If all the wiring has been confirmed correct I'd assume the amp was bad. Or the headunit outputs on that side are bad.

You could eliminate the head unit being a potential source of the problem by swapping left/right outputs at the amp. See if you can make the right side speakers do the same thing with the head unit sending left signals. Then you'll know it's not the amp, not the speakers.

I called the audio place, they are suspecting the outputs on the head unit. I did change the wires, and the problem switched sides. They gave me some voltage numbers to check on on head unit side, so its a place to start.

I just had a similar issue last month and it did turn out to be a wire... Soft connection, it appeared to be fine until I actually pulled it very gently, it disconnected. I installed a new connector and problem solved. Good luck. This was the original speaker wire bundle at the helm.
