Boat Info
330 Sundancer (1995)
Engines
Twin Mercury 350
Went to the boat yesterday, tested both engines, they worked fine, went to the panel switched shore 1 and 2 on then the a/c, outlets and others, then After an hour or so started smelling something burning and smoke, afterwards main line died completely, still have power on the secondary. No power in outlets, cabin lights, water heater, anything hooked to main, no electrical power to turn on engines or bilge blower. I looked for shore breakers but could not find them. Any idea what might be the problem?

sounds like you burned something , engines are DC not AC so start at the batteries and battery charger. If your batteries are wet when was the last time you checked the water level

Did you check the end of the power cords where they plug into the 2 shore power inlet. They burn out over the years when connected and disconnected with a load on the AC circuits. If you smelled burning that could be the problem or the connections at the back side of the shore power inlet may have burned off. Keep in mind you have both 110 volt AC and 12 volt DC systems on the boat that separate. Also if you have generator you have transfer switch on the main panel the may have failed. The AC power travels from either the shore power or the generator into the main AC panel thru the switch depending on it's position.

We checked about 10 days ago, water level was fine, also turned on the bilge blower before and turned on the engines, they looked fine an hour later however, power went out.

Marina has one outlet, I am plugging in a spilitter, that goes into the boat’s shore 1 and 2, also the marina has 60amps

I am worried that I caused a big damage, is there a way to lift the bilge lid by hand, since power is out it won’t lift the cap.

Sounds like a lot going on. Seems like problems in both AC and DC systems. I thought Sea Ray made provisions to manually open the engine hatch by pulling a pin to release the actuator.

Thanks, I had the water heater and cabin heater on at the same time, I smelled smoke and power went out. Where is the trip breaker under the bilge? And since I can’t lift the bilge where is the bilge opener by hand?

On my 340 there was a small access port in the hatch. If you opened it you could pull the pin on the hydraulic ram so you could lift the hatch.

Also I have seen a portable emergency battery connected to a cigarette plug used to energize the system to lift the hatch to the engine room.

Thanks! Where is the main breaker on the 330 or 340

IIRC all the breakers on my 340 were on the forward side center of the compartment on the wall.

I turned both Perko switches to “Both” and was able to get enough power to open the bilge hatch. Thank you all!

If both switches were turned to "both" you combined all the batteries together to raise the hatch. That says 1 bank went completely dead or disconnected.
Start at the batteries, disconnect the Red cables and measure the battery voltage on each battery.
Then hook them back up , turn the battery charger on and read them again Voltage should be a bit higher to show your charging.Turn charger off.
To check for a surface charge only, select 1 battery and try to start the engine
then test the 2nd battery . Do this for both engine banks.
Now locate the motor that powers the lifts and cut in another feed to a remote location accessible above the engine hatch. install a plug similar to what a wrecker uses for jump starting, and make up the other end with clips on it to connect to a battery

Thanks, that helps a lot. I have the ac converted on when I turn on shore 1 and 2. Should I be doing that or keep ac converter offf. I suspect when I turned on the water heater, it ate from the battery
