Hello Southern Boaters,

Once in a while I head South to the upper keys, between Tavenier and Key Largo. I know all the common spots like Gilberts, Sundowners, Rodriguez Key, The Camp, etc... Does any one know of any worth while destinations. I've heard rumors of islands and such from boaters, but when its time to get coordinates there never seems to be an answer.

I am open to suggestions and have some recommendations too.

A little further south (about 6 nm from) Tavernier, have you tried sandbar @ Holiday Isle, Islamorada. Or are you looking for something more rustic?

This is timely. I'm planning a trip to that area next week. I've not been there yet in my own boat, but used to do a ton of diving around there with various dive operators. I'd love to hear any and all suggestions of good spots between Boca Chita and Islamorada.

You are correct I was just looking at destinations places in Florida as well. I am looking to go more between Jan and early April. I've been to the Keys (bought the 400EC in Key Largo) but would like to go someplace to relax, play some golf and for sure be by the water.
So guys keep recommending places and ideas.

Yeah!!! I love that sandbar and been there many times. Its just not cost effective to go down on my Sundancer for a day unless Its on my way further South or an overnighter. I go there with my 19 footer, but I trailer her down.

I am looking for the Islamorada sandbar vibe closer to home.

Have you looked into Ocean Reef? Exclusive Country Club with all the amenities you are requesting. Need to be a member or know a member. Thought I'd mention it.

I just got a referral to stay there. You have to have a member refer you. The dockage fee is $7.50/ft/night. That's a bit steep unless you plan on using all of the amenities all day long and not being out on the boat.
