I have had a 1994 Sea Ray 180 Bowrider with a 90 hp Merc for 2 years. The wife and I spent almost every weekend when the weather was above 60 degrees F out on it since we bought it. We live in Indiana. So, my poor boat is usually winterized for 5 months of the year.

We recently bought a 2004 240 Sundancer so that we won't have to travel back and forth every day to what ever lake we are headed to. The long weekend trip to Lake Norris in Tennessee sealed the deal. Cabin rental plus slip rental would have made two boat payments. So, we bought a weekender. We don't have possession, yet. It is still in final service and we are awaiting a delivery date. Hopefully, this following week.

I have learned there is a lot more knowledge required in running a cruiser over a bowrider. Most of that information is coming from here. I am sure I will have questions once we are on the water.

Thanks

Congrats! You'll love the greater flexibility the 240 will give you. We started out in a bowrider then moved up to a 250 Sundancer. We had a great time and weren't so much impacted by the weather. Have a great time on your new boat.

A lot of people here criticize the 240 sundancer. But we love ours. It’s so easy to trailer and yet we can sleep our family of 4 plus the dog. One weekend we will be on the Mississippi then Lake Superior then the next Lake Michigan. Hope you enjoy the boat.

Welcome. We had a 2003 260 which was very similar. You will love having a cabin for overnights and to get out of the sun. Enjoy! Only downside are these boats are addictive and they make you want a larger one.
