Hi,
I just purchased a 2006 Sea Ray 185 Sport w/ 4.3L MERC and Alpha I leg.
I have boated before, but never owned my own.
The fellow who sold me the boat told me that it had not been this season, but was winterized at the end of last season.
As the weather here in the pacific northwest is still pleasant, i would love to get some use out of my new toy, but want to make sure that i dont break or wreck anything my first time out.
So, what do i need to do before taking it out for the first time assuming that other then the pre-purchase survey, the boat has not been run for almost a year?
Remember, i am very new to boating and all of my past experience has been with rentals which have always already been in the water and ready to go...
Thanks,
Jeff

You should be good to go. Try to add some fresh fuel. It will smoke when you first start the engine, let it idle and check the gages: the see ya on the water.

I would check all the fluids and make sure the drain plugs are installed. If it was done correctly it was filled with antifreeze and fogging mixture and the oil was changed along with the drive oil when it was put up at the end of last year.
If all fluids are good and the plugs are in fire it up on the hose with the flush muffs at the house and then if everything is good take it to the water.

Good luck with your new toy.
