Hi Im looking to buy my frist searay. Im looking at a 1999 270 sundancer. Does anyone have any opinons on 7.4 merc crusier with a bravo 3? Any and all thoughts on this boat would be appreciated.

Scootz........ WELCOME.....The 7.4 motor is a work horse.......with the B3.......its a great combo.

Tell us more about the boat......FWC ?

Where are you buying it from ??

Good Luck...

Hi don Its not fwc, its got 198 hours on it. the owner said its been out of the water for two seasons, no time to use it. the asking price is 29k.

I've got that engine/drive combination on my 250 & the more I learn how to use it the better I like it. As far as power ... 4 adults and a full load has yet to be a problem & from all I read, I should never expect one. Please do some research on the B3 corrosion issues. You will find that they are extremely reliant on proper maintenance. The PO of my boat learned this the hard way. If you can start your survey out of the water you may save some time.

I had a 1999 270SE (the 8'6" beam version) powered as you mentioned. What a great power unit...I consistantly cruised at 3100 rpm @ 30 mph which I thought was the sweet spot. Consistantly observed 2.2 mpg against a 5 knot current. At WOT, it was right at 45 mph and that 7.4 sounded sweet. What a great boat to be your first....do your homework before you buy

Thanks for the input. I will look into the b3. Im moving up from a 231 proline with a 200 outboard. This would be my frist inboard.
