5.7L Mercruiser w/Alpha 1 and HighFive SS prop.
Hi all. I'm a boating newb and have a few friends with boats but now I am gonna take the plunge. :smt038
I found a 1991 Sea Ray 200 Bow Rider with the 5.7 Mercruiser in our neighborhood. It's a creampuff. :smt001 Well taken care of and comes with a matching trailer.
I have a few questions though. It does not have an hour meter on it. Is that normal? Also, is there anything I should look out for specifically? He wants $8300.00 and they lost the title to the trailer. He says I should just buy another trailer but is it that big of a deal with the DMV? Anyone know?
Its white with teal trim and matching trailer. A real beaut! It comes with 2 bimini tops and no stereo which is OK since my stepdaughter works at BestBuy!
I would love some links to find specs on the boat or any info, I did a search but not much has come up. I want to pull it with my 2005 Nissan Frontier with a 4.0L V6 plus the tow package and plenty of performance mods and a reflashed ECU with tow-mode. I think it will handle it fine.
So, I'll be lurking about and asking lots of questions so thanks in advance.

Well I put a deposit on her. I should be picking her up this week. I am going to need a good cover and would appreciate any suggestions by members here. Thanks.

Good luck with the new boat. you will need to post some pics.

Yup thats her. Just teal instead of red. She's got the 5.7 L Mercruiser too.

Here she is....

SF,

Welcome to CSR! You will love that Sea Ray! It looks to be pristine. And...looks exactly like my '92, and I by that I mean well, almost exactly. Mine only has the 5.0 motor in it, though. Mine was in as good shape as yours, paid $6500 a year ago. Looks like we both got great deals!

Now get out and enjoy her.

Cheers!
John

I ended up getting her for 7500.00, I am just a little concerned because there is no hour meter. :smt009

SF,

No hour meter on mine either. I think on our boats, if they had the hour meter option, it wold be located in the battery area. Did you look there? Hour meter was part of an option package that included the compass. If you don't have a factory installed compass at the helm, then you probably don't have the hour meter.

How is the boat working out for you?

Thanks,
John

We are taking her out today! There is NO hour meter on the breaker for the bilge either. Just a plastic cover where it goes and the wiring ready to hook up.
So I am thinking I should put one in? Then get her on a regular schedule. What about things to check in this case? Any come to mind for replacing or repair. I have heard that the risers and manifolds, maybe the carb? We will find out how she runs today. I am taking a seasoned boater and mechanic with me. I'll be sure to let ya know how it goes. :smt001

So we took her out for the maiden voyage two weeks ago and found the alternator was toast. So, I popped a new one in and now we are getting a good 13 Volts. So the wife and I took her out yesterday and we have a weird problem. I can start the motor on the trailer with one turn of the key but once we get on the water it has trouble starting and then slowly gets going. Once it starts she runs STRONG except for a bog when throttling up quickly. I am thinking about pulling the plugs and checking the cap and wires as well as checking the fuel filter today instead of going out again.
I would appreciate any thoughts by members here on this issue. Thanks.
