After growing up with boats until about 20 years ago I'm getting back in the game. I'm looking at a 190 Sundeck this weekend and was wondering if I could get some feedback on this model and any input on what to look for. Should I get a surveyor for this? Are there any known issues with this model? I'm excited to get back into boating and want to make the right choice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I had a 190 Sundeck as a starter boat (2 years) and then traded up to a 240 Sundeck to have more room and to handle larger water.

I loved the 190 and had no problems - just consider your "use" before purchasing.

Let us know what year you're interested in, as previously stated.

We used to have a 2003 220 Sundeck. What a great starter boat it was. Handled larger ocean waves very well for it's size/design/layout/lack of cabin weight in the bow/etc.

Anyway, assuming the 190 and 220 have similar layouts, it's an overall great boat with some cool features. The bow boarding ladder made for great ease getting on/off when the boat was beached or whatever... a feature we are lacking on our 270 Select.

If you could give us some more info about the boat you're interested in, you may get more helpful responses. Are you boating in the ocean, or inland waters? Maybe the 190 is not large enough to handle ocean waves. Let us know also the propulsion on the boat you're interested in. Our 220 Sundeck had 260hp and that was more than enough to contend with. Easy around the docks and fast in the ocean... hit 48-50 mph occasionally, believe it or not.

Good luck, and keep us updated.

Thanks

First, thanks for your replies, it's a 2001 190 with 4.3 190 hp alpha drive. I don't know if dealers watch these forums but they will know it's their boat if they read this.

I went to the Sea Ray dealer today and looked at it. She is in very good condition with a total of 189 Hrs. It has pretty much everything including bimini and full camper cover. The engine was rebuilt 50 hrs ago under warranty as there was a compression issue. The boat was checked thru the dealer and everything works (compression on each cylinder is 190 to 189). All the info I'm providing was provided by the dealer. I made an offer today.

They are asking 13999.00. Am I looking at a good deal??? The NADA for the boat, trailer and extras is 10,600 w/o the goodies, 12400 with. Looking to use on local lakes and occasional Hudson River runs. Thought 19 ft would be towable to different venues. thanks
