Hello all
i bought a '98 215 Express Cruiser last month and just love it. i have done quite a bit of work on it so far and the noticed the gas gauge was not working. i did a google search and found your site. well after reading a few posts and doing the troubleshooting techniques i found out, i just get great gas mileage. and now i will be looking for ideas for replacing the rollers on my calkins trailer. great site and i can't wait to get more experienced.

Sigs:

Welcome to the site! You are lucky enough to live close to the San Juans! We trailer over about once a year and have a blast over there. I think there is another group forming the last week of July to head to various places. We never know where we're going until we get the boat in the water and then it's kind of a day by day thing.

As far as gas mileage, my boat gets GREAT mileage (while on the trailer!). The change from a 250 DA with a single 7.4 to a 300 DA with twin 350's wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was a reduction in MPG, but not substantial. We don't cruise for hours anywhere we go, so gas is not a huge expense.

There are a bunch of folks on this site from your neck of the woods. We also play on another local website that we MIGHT tell you about! I think there is a secret handshake or something, but I'm not privy to that yet! I'm on the wrong side of the mountains cheering for the wrong college football team!

Whidbey Island... would be curoius to see how it has developed since I was a kid fishing with my Dad and Brothers just offshore. We had to go through Deception Pass and the waves scared the hell out of me as a little kid.

I saw my first run of Killer Whales just off of Whidbey and it scared the hell out of me as well!

Welcome!

Sundancer and Uplate,
Thank you for your replies, i need as much advice and ideas as i can get. i have been a sailor in the Navy for about 16 yrs and have been on the helm of destroyers, crusiers, and aircraft carries, they all have been faster but not as much fun. maybe being in command has something to do with it :) so far we have motored around Fort Casey state park and gone through Deception pass, the currents are unreal. but so far taking small steps. this weekend we are going to Port Townsend for luch, walking around, and maybe get a picture of the light house. well keep notes a-coming and maybe i can prove my worth for a secret hand shake.
