So, as referenced earlier, I am a new owner of a 320DA. Ive been boating forever on the Chesapeake as a day boater on bowlders. I will be hiring a captain for a day once the weather/boat are good to go for the season but I have so many questions and would love to start getting answers as soon as I can.

My question today involves using the VHF radio.
1. How to properly dial it in or "squelch" it?
2. What channels to use and what uses for each channel?
3. How to properly communicate and maintain proper etiquette?
4. How to use it in emergency situations?

My 280 has all that on a sticker on the inside of a panel where the breakers are under the throttles by your knees.

Do you have a VHF with DSC? If so, you'll want to re-register it to your name. If your VHF doesn't have DSC it might be worth spending some time to familiarize yourself with the available technology. With DSC you can teach your admiral to push a single button in an emergency. No call or channel selection required. Push the button and help will arrive, eventually.

I do not know yet! I have recently read about that and do want to be registered.
