New york national boat show

If you don't own one, it's hard to think of a logical reason to buy one.
Au contraire! What better time to buy a boat for someone who doesnt own one currently??? Sellers (and dealers) are desperate to unload product, inventory is piling up, incentives and rebates abound, interest rates are low. And someone who is NOT also going to be trying to sell is really in the driver's (or should I say "helm") seat. I envy that guy - that is, of course, if he has a job, has a decent credit score, is not mired in a divorce and his house isn't in foreclosure!

Ron,

I totally agree with you that this is the buyers market with some of best deals out there. In addition, I think it makes sense not just for first boat buyers, but even if you’re upgrading. IMO, you still win when upgrading, despite the fact that you’ll get less for your boat. Since the new boat is much more (in most cases) money the formula will work for you to make the transition worth it.

Alex.

You guys with lightly used and well loved late model boats are also in a good position. Dealers would take a trade b/c everyone walking into their showroom is looking for a reasonably priced alternative to a new boat.

Yeah. Me too. I've not bought a used boat yet, but the prices of new Sea Rays are crazy.

If I hit the PowerBall tomorrow, I wouldnt buy a new boat again. WAY TOO MUCH depreciation for my liking. I bought my last boat right after Sept 11 (ie: crazy great deal) and STILL got hammered selling it mid-summer of 2004, and it was truly pristine. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I am taking Friday the 19th off and riding the train into the city. I always go to litle Italy for dinner after the show. That would be a good place for the CSR meeting!
Anyone going on Friday?

My wife wants to go on the 20th.

I will also be wearing my CSR t-shirt.

A very good friend of our family will be up there with Marine Max selling Azimut and Sea Ray for Marine Max. He has been a friend for a long time - he has really helped out our family a lot with our Sea Ray purchases. If you don't have a Marine Max sales guy already - ask for Ed Baldwin 848-333-6669 Cell. He is solid guy who knows Sea Ray and Azimut inside and out. Josh

Went to the show today, in a word... sad. VERY slow. I spent a bunch on the vendors. I only saw 2 boats in the 50' range. carver had one boat at the show. Some of the smaller dealers had almost no one looking at their boats. The Sea Ray bell when they sell a boat was very very silent. I hope the rest of the week picks up for them.

Went on sat. very depressing turnout by the manufacturers. seamed like half the larger boats as ther used to be, and a lot less vendors.

On the other hand it was nice not being so crowded in, building seemed empty.
oh yea dont forget the $4.25 bottles of snapple, ya gotta love NY

Quick side note BE VERY CAREFULL ON THE STEPS leading up to the swim platforms on the Silvertons. Very poor design very steep, within the ten minutes or so I was at there display I watched three people allmost end up on there ass.

Why does a section of Toms River have swim platforms? And considering that it's a suburban town, I would think that seeing people riding around on donkeys (or do you mean democrats) would be quite strange.

Best regards,
Frank

Frank, that's WAY out there. I get it but not sure other (non-locals) would.

As long as you, Alex and Jon get it, my work here is done.

So no free hats for us Sea Ray owners???? Oh well, we may arrive at little Italy a lil early if the show is that bad.

Took the family on Saturday. Not a lot of people and a big decrease in the number of boats. We hung out on the the 48DA for quite some time. Love that boat!!! Saw everything in about 3 hours and then we went to see the tree in Rock Center.

We're going next Saturday. My SS3 Marine Max salesman called the other day and PROMISED me he had a great deal on the 48 DA.....we'll see, though even with a great deal I'm not sure I can go back to a Sundancer and I really don't like the new 47DB....and....the 52DB is just too big for the South Shore, sooooooo.......it'll be interesting to see what he thinks a great deal is. :wow:

Sound like this show is still slipping downward. This used to be "the" show. Now its just there.. Still, I'll be there all day tomorrow.
Mark.
