New weekender owner from cleveland

Hello, i recently purchased a 1976 24 ft weekender for the wife and i. we came from an actually larger bayliner but realized that we wanted something we could trailer if we wanted should the need arise. we plan to keep the boat in the marblehead area. my love of sea ray boats goes back to my fathers 1979 express 300 that he used to have back in the 90's. i learned all about navigation and boat handeling on that old gal and loved the quality and craftsmanship.

not sure yet, were thinking harbor haven but requires going through east harbor and that has me a bit worried. i'v heard of people getting into shallow spots there and loosing outdrives and such. we kept the bayliner at a place called rocky point but the wife wants a place thats a little less primative

They just finished dredging a new channel in east harbor so you will be fine. We are at Marina Del Isle and am not too worried about depth.

That being said, Harbor Haven looks to be quite a ways west in East Harbor. I know the dredge went to Bass Haven so anything east of there should be good.

iv taken the bayliner through the marked channel to cleats. but i have seen cigarette boats flying west so it must be deep enough.

The new channel is different from the old marked channel you are used too. Obviouly the new channel will be marked, and is going to run along the shore in front of all of hte marinas. I know the old channel wont be maintained anylonger, but I am not sure if it will be marked still.

Generally if you are on plane out side of the channel you are in good shape. It's when you come off plane that you get into trouble. The deepest ive seen it out side the channel is 6' or so. I have also been in 2ft of water...
