New Vintage Flybridge Owner 1977 SRV 240 SDB

Hello,
We've just agreed to purchase a 1977 SRV 240 Flybridge in pretty much mint condition. We moved up from a Bayliner 175 and I'm looking to find any information I can get on this model. Even Sea Ray is no help because the model is so old. The current owners does have all the oem manuals as far as I can tell. All I can find on line are the sale brochure pages. After survey, we will take delivery in about three weeks, in hopes of being on the water for July 4th in Okoboji Iowa. I want to put a camper canvas also.

Welcome to my world.... I've found local knowledge helps here in S Florida. There's not many mid-70's models out there.
Good luck with the boat.. post some pics when you can..

Welcome. Post those other's too I saw on IBNW. She's a beauty and welcome, glad you made it.

One reminder, put your boat's info in your signature.
Best of luck

Hi all!

I JUST BOUGHT A 1977 SRV 240 SBD WITH FLY BRIDGE TODAY! SOOOO IF ANYONE DOES FIND A GOOD ONLINE SOURCE LET ME KNOW! THIS IS MY FIRST BOAT AND I KNOW I HAVE SOME WORK AHEAD OF ME. WILL POST FOTOS SOON!

My wife and I just purchased a 77' SRV 240 SDB that we looked at Sat. in Truth or Consequenses NM. The vessel has been sitting for a while but was started and run periodically and winterized every year properly. The exterior teak is is need of cleaning and oiling but seems to be in good shape otherwise. The boat's hull is flawless but needs a wash and polish bad! Also the bottom paint will need to be redone before I put it in a slip at Elephant Butte Lake. The interior needs fresh carpet and cushions recovered, due to being 30+ years old and we will do just that. I wanted to say that the pics on this thread motivated our decision to buy with this near perfect example of what can be. I hope to post my owns pics soon. We were pleasantly suprised that our vessel has a different interior cabinet option which gets rid of the full cabin helm seat and uses a much smaller backless seat that allows for a larger countertop, plus a wine rack and more storage compartments. How often does one use the cabin helm anyway? We're so excited to get started and finish the resto so we can enjoy it on the lake. Any comments or advice is welcome.

I miss boats like this one. Sea Ray, Bayliner, Carver, and Silverton all used to make bridge boats in the 20's. To me it was a great way to put a lot of room in a small boat without blowing it up into an ugly bubble like they do now. I used to have a 27' Silverton with twin V-drives and a flybridge. That boat felt like a 35 footer. I wish they would bring this trend back.

My father had a '77 SRV 240 SDB, Mercruiser Model 250 (350 CID) Motor and the same layout. Great boat and truly missed. I have about 10+ years of experience with it so I would be happy to help with any questions.
