Love all the 190 Sport talk on the forum. I have a 2013 190. We boat out of Tilghman Island on the Maryland eastern shore of the Chesapeake.

I thought I saw a picture of a 190 with a cover that goes over the entire boat. My 2013 came with separate cockpit and tonneau covers that snap on. The process of getting these on and off can be a pain. I can't find the picture that I saw, but does the 2014's come with a different type of cover? Does it still snap in? If anyone has experience or seen both is the new full boat type a little easier to use? I keep the cockpit and tonneau cover on when the boat is at my slip to keep the rain out, etc. Is this new style cover also used for that or is it just a towing type of cover?

You can see the type of cover I have in this blog. The first image:

Semi-trying to sell the 190, just to move up in size. The open Chesapeake Bay can be a little rough in a 19 footer :)

Thanks.

Darren

You can probably find some prior discussions on the full cover on this forum. I forget if it became available in maybe 2012 or 2013. It uses a black nylon strap through the hem (below the rubrail) with a ratchet to make it tight. Very nice.

Hey Darren,

You might be referring to the pictures I posted of my 2012 190. It's the "190 Sport Send Off" thread from a few weeks ago on the Sport Boats forum. I had two types of covers: The snap on tonneaus that are in the photos you've posted, and the "mooring" cover which has the belt and straps. If I recall correctly, the tonneau covers are more of a canvas, while the mooring is more of a poly-blend. I liked both types, but had a bit of water seepage using the mooring cover the one winter I stored it outdoors.

I just purchased a new 2013 Sport 190, and it came with the full canvas cover.
I am pretty sure Great Lakes Boat Tops did these for Sea Ray. It seems to be a very nice cover.
It is not a snap on, but fits like a glove and attaches very secure. ( using the nylon straps and ratchet as Dennis mentioned). Comes with two poles ( one for front and one for back) that snap into the cover as well. Very easy to put on and take off.

One thing I've noticed with full covers... Unless you get a custom cover they will not fit around your bimini top so you would have to lay that down each time you cover. Not a huge deal with decent snap pins but it might take two people to hold as you get to both sides. Just something to consider.

I have had my mooring cover for 2&1/2 years now and it is doing a really great job of protecting the boat. Its made of a solution dyed polyester material which is light weight but strong. Twice a year I clean it and apply 303 protectant which maintains the water repellance. Overall I highly recomend it for storage and trailering.

My cockpit and tonneau covers are sunbrella acrylic material which are much heavier weight. I use them when I slip the boat or when I take the other cover home for cleaning. They don't cover as much surface as the mooring cover.

Look to spend $600-$700 for a Sea Ray mooring cover for your boat. Worth every penny and it is built to last.

Here's a link to my thread about it.

Hey Glenn, The "Send off" posting was the image I saw. I realized that my work PC wasn't showing any pictures. That's why I can't find it.

**dbure - Does your cover fix around the bimini or do you need to take it down, like Trucky meantioned? You think your dealer custom made your cover? It wasn't from the Sea Ray or generally available?

Thanks!

Darren

Hi Darren,
Cover came from Sea Ray - most likely from Great Lakes Boat Tops to Sea Ray, they did the bimini as well.
You should be able to contact Great Lakes and give them your model and year, they should be able to fix you up.

Bimini - you just fold it down, no need to remove.

Just for clarification... The cover is a Sea Ray OEM option, but not made by Sea Ray (although I don't think you can buy it from the manufacturer until 5 years have past... but I'm not 100% sure on that point). The cover has slits/velcro to go AROUND the bimini poles (velcroes back onto itself around the poles) without having to either lower or remove the bimini in any way. The bimini does not have to be lowered for trailering, although an owner may choose to do so (but not necessary). This is also a mooring cover - meaning it has cutouts for the cleats, should one want to leave the boat in the water but still tie it up.

Ah thanks for the clarification Dennis, I knew the cover had the cutouts for the hardware but did not occur to me one could leave the bimini up as well.

Yes, between the use of stainless hardware (not plastic or crome-plated "pot metal"), the heavy windshield and the way that the gunnwale is built - no problem at all to trailer with it up.

New 2012 190 owner. Love the forum. I too want to get the full cover from Sea Ray. I checked with Great Lakes Boat Tops and they won't sell direct until 5 years I believe (as stated earlier in this topic). I also checked with my dealer and it's close to 1K after shipping. Just to be sure there are no other options for the OEM top and no cheaper online retailers (that carry Sea Ray parts)? Thanks

The OEM cover is very well made and has a great fit. With regards to trailering with the bimini up I would only do so on short trips. I found on my the back and forth movement while driving on the highway starting wearing into the poles at spots where they rubbed together. A guy I work with has a Bryant and they use the exact same cover.
