I am the proud new owner of a 2005 50 Sundancer. I last owned a 45 Carver and am happy to be back with Sea Ray.

Welcome back, and enjoy the new yacht! Sea Ray's are great boats

Welcome enjoy the ride up to the bay....50 is my ultimate goal. Post some photos when you can

That get together sounds great. My sons Barmitzvah is that weekend. Maybe another time. Thanks for all of the kind welcomes!!

Congrats, exciting times ahead ! I've done the round trip , Annapolis - South FL for the last five yrs. If you need any info, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Cruz'n. In good weather how long is the trip? I am debating taking it up myself or hiring a captain to do it.

Three of my round trips were by myself. It goes w/o saying ,there is additional risk. I take a leisurely pace, shortest days 5.5 hrs, longest 10 hrs. Good weather and interesting city....... I stay an additional day at the marina. So, from West Palm to Annapolis, my shortest trip was 7 days. In reality, I factor in a weather day, mechanical day and a few additional site seeing days. If you want to get " your pride and joy " to Chesapeake faster, higher a capt and first mate. Personally, I enjoy the anticipation of the trip, almost as much as the trip itself. By not hiring the trip out, I definitely learned the boat much faster. I don't do any night running , I don't drink while underway and I watch the weather like a hawk. If forecasting 4-6' head seas, I stick to the ICW....

Thanks for the great advice. What do you typically budget for fuel and marinas for the trip?

Also, trying to figure out how to get all of the gear I need down to Fort Lauderdale for the trip up!

alubell..... lol... I knew that was coming. I get that question all the time ! I'll try not to cast a cloud over the trip about that, but....$5300-5600. I'm always shopping enroute. Trying to arrive with less fuel at a lower priced marina. At times I'll ask when do they expect their next delivery if prices are volatile , which is most of the time ! Osprey marina SC MM 373, just S of Southport NC is one of the best prices. Quaint location and very nice people.
I loaded all my " stuff " in an F-150 crew cab and took the Autotrain out of Lorton VA to Sanford FL.....great trip ! I flew back to bring the truck back.

I'm sure you've taken this into account during survey, ( if you were present )..... For this length of trip, a spotless bottom and running gear will make HUGE differences in fuel consumption.!
