New to the site and to boating so I just wanted to say hi....

Thanks Jack, yeah she was my pride and joy back in the day but as for making you an amateur, not at all. I am the amateur, believe me otherwise I wouldn't have spent so much money and time correcting my mistakes and going through the trials and era of finding out what worked. Believe me too when I say thank goodness for friends in the motorcycle business I had or I would still be trying to figure out what to do... lol. I had alot of work in her that I didn't even mention like a rake in the front end at around 36* through the triple trees to keep the factory frame strong and original. Did I mention she was still a matching numbers bike even with all the work. I did High polished engine cases, transmission cases, and the heads with all the bolt ons in chrome, even the high torque starter casing was high polished... lol. She was longer and lower then an average Harley because of her swing arm, triple trees and an 11" "Progressive" suspension. 7 candy pearls, mirror finished black laquer paint and a Led Zeppelin mural of the Sun God from their album cover, all under a urethane clear made the paint scheme up. The bike was insane in her time and when people who didn't know the bike saw her, it took them a while before they realized she was a Sporty originally. But then after 16 years, styles changed and she became era correct, nobody seemed to appreciate the work in her with the Orange County after market chopper craze, I got older and yearned for a more gentle suspension, (basically on long trips I couldn't take the vibrations anymore of a worked motor as it would take like 20 minutes to get the feelings back in my hand not to mention my back because she wasn't that far from a rigid ride). Then after watching my friends get into baggers and cruisers and how it fit their life for them, I realized it was time. I probably should have kept her but seeing her just collect dust just did not seem right. Plus today there is so much out there anyone could build another a lot easier. Besides that I have really been enjoying the boat and it's been some time since I had that feeling of being involved in something. Almost like that first solo drive in my first car feeling. Know what I mean?

GSXR 1100, ??? 5 gears in the air, flat shiftin................Come on Man!

Yeah, that's what most people think because of sterio typical idealism of the two different styles in motorcycles, no biggie I hear you but the build on my motor was a torque monster and my 5-speed was built to put it to the pavement, that's why I previously stated in the 1/4 mile. A Harley is just like a muscle car you either go off the line or build for top end. If you know bikes, you should realize just with the 4 over sprocket conversion what the bike was built for. I had an 11' suspension, stretched and widened swing arm, O-ring chain crossover, with the swing arm the rear tire was converted to a 150 size from the factory 110 or 120 it was originally, giving me enough to grab and not overly done to cause drag, etc... heck even my rear wheel had to be tapped and drilled for 1/2" threaded bolts where the sprocket mounted to be strong enough to handle the throttle off the line. Of course on the highway it's a different story as that is where a crotch rocket with it's gearing and balance shines but like I said I am talking 1/4 mile, remember we are also talking street and strip not professional top fuel track only race bike.

~Cheers, Lou
