New to the group, Hello!

Where in Lindenhurst did you both stay? I was at Marine Max for the time I was there. I was on a mooring at Gold Star Beach in Huntington a season ago, but will be at West Shore Marina this year.

I like the Coast Guard cove at Eatons Neck, is the Sand Hole much harder an approach then that? I tapped the bottom entering their once, but sustained no damage thankfully!

Over ten years ago we kept our boats at Surfside3 for the spring & fall. We too were in West Shore when we kept our boat in Huntington.

As as far as the sand hole, the entrance is not well marked as the coast guard station but it it much bigger and nicer once you are in. You can also go on the beach which I believe is not permitted in the coast guard cove at Eatons Neck. As mentioned, it would be good to follow someone in with local knowledge the first time you go as the entrance is narrow at where you come in from the sound.

Enjoy!

Awesome, I will definitely try that out as soon as we put in this year. Not being able to go to the beach is a BIG drawback at the other place. Kids love going to a beach!

New to group, not sure this is the thread for my post, but here I go.

We have what I believe is a 1999 Sea Rayder Z16 XR, with 21 hours on it. Boat was left here when we bought the house, previous owner was supposed to get it, though 4 years later here it still sits. The motor is out of it (in crates) inside the boat. I am assume by the hours and motor in pieces, the person didn't winrerize it after it's first season of use......my question is, what to do? I know nothing about boats, though have enjoyed them from time to time. Is it worth getting fixed, or is it just going to be a money pit? I wouldn't mind selling it, actually thought about putting it at the end of the driveway with a free sign on, just to get it off the property!

Wanted to know your guy's thoughts. Thanks in advance for the help!

My first question would be do you have a title? My second thought is post some pics of the condition on here so everyone can see and have a realistic opinion. If the hull, upholstery, and electronics work and all you need is some engine work then maybe. But if it needs something on all of the above my gut tells me the sign may be the best option. Depending on the state you may also need a title on the trailer but that has some value.

Since a couple of you guys on the North Shore miss the South
Shore beaches we may be able to work something out sometime. I own my dock in Lindenhurst. It's 50' of bulkhead with electric and water. If someone had a similar situation on the North Shore somewhere in the Oyster Bay to Huntington area it might be fun to swap slips for a couple of weeks.
You could use the coves and beaches down here and we'd have a base of operations to explore the North Shore a bit.

The boat looks like it will clean up, though a clean looking boat doesn't do much for the items you mentioned. I live in TN, and was going to explore the title part, as to what to with "abanded property", being that it was last tagged in 01, and most likely has been sitting outside since, I really think there will be other issues as well......

So its been sitting outside in the elements uncovered for years....don't know much about TN weather, but if it gets below freezing much you can just forget about it. Although I would suspect you could sell the motor and trailer.
