Hi All, New here, and to Charleston Area. I have a 99 310DA now docked at the Harbor Marina.

Would some of you from the area mind if i pick your brains a little please?

Any good day trip tips?

How long of a trip up the ICW is Wrightsville Beach?

Good overnight anchoring spots? Not looking for marinas, just places to tuck in and hide at night.

Thanks for any help!

Dave

Hi Dave and welcome,
As Chuck said, there are 3 boats leaving Chas Fri around noon and heading up ICW for a CSR rondevous around G'town. I know one, maybe 2 have made that run before. Sadler knows the Chas area well. Come join us. The thread is long so pm me if you want a rundown and I will send you my #.

Welcome Dave. I assume you're at Charleston Harbor Marina. Join us this weekend if you can. We're leaving Charleston Friday around noon (three boats) for Georgetown from RiversEdge marina. We could swing by CHM as we head north.

There are some good anchor spots on the Folly River, in the lighthouse inlet behind Morris Island, and up the Stono, to name a few. I anchor out fairly often, and if you'd like, you're welcome to join me sometime. Just shoot me a PM.

Yes, Harbor marina....Thanks! will do. Wish we could this weekend, got a little housekeeping to do on the boat. (throttle cables, Air condition Priming, etc) so wont make it this weekend.

Would live to anchor out near morris sometime!

Note you can't access Murrells Inlet from the ICW. 2-3 hour run outside from Charleston.

Jamie is right. But looking at the map, it looks like you can get there without going outside if you're willing to leave your boat behind and walk or drive. Wacca Wache Marina is on the ICW, and from there Murrells Inlet is about 3 miles away via Wachesaw Road. I'd guess 5 or 6 hours to Wacca Wache marina from Charleston by boat up the ICW.

Just ran from North Myrtle to Charleston last weekend. 5 Hours on the button both ways. All depends on traffic in the ditch between Bucksport and 501. North Myrtle to Wrighstville Beach was 3 hours outside going up, 5 hours coming home through the ditch. If going from Charleston to Wrightsville, a night at my home marina at Barefoot Resort would be ideal.

When we did the Charleston to Wrightsville run last year, I believe it was Barefoot Resort where we bought gas. Is it across from Barefoot Landing? We overnighted on Bald Head Island on the way up, and overnighted on the hook several places on the way down.

You have about 90 miles to Murrels' Inlet from Charleston, can't float there from ICW without getting into the ocean for quite a run, but a short taxi ride will get you to the inlet area. For some fresh fish try Harrelson, a small hole in the wall place just south of restaurant row and the inlet marina, west side of Bus. 17. Look for the building with a fisherman in a rowboat on the roof (got to love SC MB redneck deco). You can pick up all of the day's fresh catch to go on ice or also have a dine in or take out cooked snack.
