1999 Sea Ray 190 cc/ss
Engines
5.0 Mercruiser w/Alpha 1
I just made the plunge...... I had a son this past December and ever since I've been contemplating getting rid of my motorcycle. (figured it was the responsible thing to do) So, i sold it a few weeks ago.... But I can't go through life without some sort of toy right? So the wife and I decided to get a boat. I've always wanted a boat and she had one while growing up as a kid. She has so many great memories from her time boating as a kid, so I'm hoping my family will have similar memories...... Long story short, the first boat we looked at was a 1999 Sea Ray 190cc/ss with the 5.0 merc and alpha 1 drive. It was beautiful with under 50 original hrs on it. We fell in love immediately but it was at the top of our price range and it was the first boat we looked at, so we kept looking. We looked at about 15 more boats and nothing compared to this Sea Ray. We were hooked I guess, so I bought it..... What are your guys thoughts on this model??

You can't beat Sea Ray quality!

Welcome to CSR (and Sea Ray)!

Welcome to you & your family.

You made the right choice. I loved my 190 Signature. There a great size for any family. Large enough for comfort, easy to trailer & it won't drain your wallet.
Just try to stay off the throttle a little and you'll run all weekend. Do you know what size prop is on your boat?

Oh Yeah ! Pictures or we don't believe it :)

Boating is a great family sport....welcome! My motorcycle sits more and I choose to boat more. It seems that since PA went to a no helmet law.....there are tons of idiots out there riding and crashing. I don't find riding the bike relaxing anymore and a hot helmet is a pain but saved my life years ago when a 4x4 took me out. The truck driver was a real nice guy who did not see me and paid all my bills. I'd rather drive a nice performance car or boat with good tunes and an ice cold ice tea, Mike.

Hey welcome aboard!!! Do not worry, I did the same thing and I am new to it too.
Sold my pro-street Harley I owned and built for 16 yrs (been on bikes my whole life) and I sold my muscle car project too ( I grew up on these and did auto body restoration for a living growing up too). I hear you on the change because it was the same for me. My first child was born 9 years ago and my second two years later and then a little over two years ago my third. Family responsibility and loss of free time for myself just brought me to a stop on the car (not to mention the money I decided to use for their education instead) and as for the bike I realized I just did not ride anymore like I use too ever since my kids were born when I dragged a finger on my fender and wiped away an inch of dust. It's just so many people ride now that are inexperienced, the danger of crowed roads and incompetent drivers, not to mention the laws that were caused by the influx of riders killed the feeling of freedom I had riding here in miserable NY. Then one day I looked at my kids and realized they are just getting older and hence so was I and that's when I decided to stop putting my life on pause and do something me and the whole family could enjoy in each others company, so I bought my friend's Sundancer 270 and haven't look back since. Wish I wouldn't have waited so long so good move on your timing as well. I plan on another bike in my future but it will more likely be a bagger after my kids have grown and me and my wife can go on long trips but then again maybe not and instead do longer trips on the boat or if good fortune willing a larger Sea Ray... lol

~Cheers, Lou

Welcome to a great forum. I am also new here this year, and have learned three season's worth of boating lessions just lurking, along with some folks that have helped me with a few specific questions.

You should love your boat, great family size. I'm not sure which 5.0 you have, I have the carb with 220 hp, and a little more weight to account for - and I have all the power I need for family sports. Your boat should also trailer well with a mid size SUV and up.

My family has a great time on each outing. Keeps my 8-14 year olds close in many ways. The kids have been amazing pitching in with duties while underway, and cleaning up when we get back home. A friend told me that a boat tends to bring the college kids and beyond back as well. Great family tradition!

Good luck and have fun!

Welcome aboard
