I am adding fish finder capabilities to my Raymarine C80. I need to mount the Raymarine DSM30 somewhere that is outside of the engine compartment that won't interfere with the radio or compass. I have a 2006 320. Do you know where SeaRay mounts this when it is a factory install?

They are mounted thru the left side of the dash burrel panel (simulated wood grain). Depending on what options you have on the burrel panel sometimes you need a new burrel panel that supports the fishfinder and Raymarine chart plotter/RADAR/GPS. Adding the fish finder can be tricky as you need to do a little rewiring, it's been a few years since I did dash wiring (on 320's) , but if you have an existing raymarine, there is a way to tie it into that but you also have to add the fish finder wires into the actual wiring harness that's around the hull of the boat (scratching head). Have you talked to your dealer to see what is required? They are equipped to add the necessary wiring needed for functionality. FYI. new burrel panels , our cost, over 150$ per.:wow:

Let us know if you find out more.

Can you give me the exact location (center point) to install rod holders on my 340 2004 DA.
Thanks, George

Are you wanting rod holders on your deck vent covers? or on the transom lid? The 340da sportsman's package had them on the transom. I cant remember if they were on the deckvent covers, but most boats that have rod holders are installed on the deckvents (ie. Amberjack with it's outriggers) Lemme know and ill pull the specs for you.

I would just like to find an arch for my model. I can do any and all of the wiring. If there's one kicking around the Riverview plant that's closing/closed?....I'd like to know.

I appreciate you looking.

I can tell you that the old Merritt Island Plant is now in charge of making all of our spoilers for all SR models. Have you checked with your dealership, because they can absolutely order that for you. Any dealer can really.

lemme know

chelepop - Thank you for your reply and contributions to the site!

The reason that I asked the question is that I currently have a 2003 280DA. We love the boat but would like a seating configuration like the larger boats (bench helm), greater cruising range, and a little extra room for sleeping would be nice. The 310 / 330 / 350 are nice boats, but cost was a critical factor in the decision process when we purchased our 280, and once again price is of paramount importance when considering our options for our next boat.

As SR must have shut down the 290 line based on sales, I would assume that when the decision was made SR went back to the "drawing board" and immediately started working a boat that would exceed the expecations of the 280/290 buyer?

Please keep us in the loop if you hear any news (that you are permitted to share) on the 280 replacement plans.

Thanks again,

Mike

This is what is coming through for 280... Another 290SDA I havent seen the boat yet, but Ill fill you in when I know more. AAMOF, in the fall across the board all of our models will be changing the designator emblems (on the spolier and such) so add 2 ft per boat, so the new 290sda will be 310sda. confusing I know, but that is to distinguish models out in the field, having too many 290's out there is hard to keep up with and the years we have produced them. And we can change the designators accurately because the boats a mostly longer than what their designators are originally. Clear as mud?

I not sure if you understood my question. The DSM30 gets hidden somewhere on the boat, the dash isn't affected. The C80 is simply the display for GPS, Radar, Fish Finder etc. I am adding the fish finding option and need to mount the sending unit (DSM30) somewhere behind / under the dash and run wires up to the C80. I was trying to find out if there is a preferred location for mounting it.

Yep, they said that it's not made any longer.

Chelepop is right, they are usually put behind the dash panel.

Thanks Jim, I guess I didn't understand Cheelop's response. It threw me when she suggested that might need a new burl pannel.

Vince,
Look in the panel under the helm wheel. That area is sometimes acessed by taking out the panel where ur chart platter or smart craft is . ITs really tight and u need patience!!! My 34 hada cut out to the right of my helm chair. ( under stb side gunel ) They put some electronics there too.

Chellepop,
A good friend just left knoxville corporate. What do u do there ?

Rob
I'm not at corporate, just next door at headquarters plant. I did receive MANY PM's about retirement etc. did get contacts so it's another family losing a loved one........... Makes me sad, but it's inevitable. They do stick around to show support that makes me happy :smt038:smt043:grin:

Lemme tell ya, that is COMPLETELY BS. Your dealer can order older models (280 etc. which is ESPECIALLY still in production but work FAST AS IN LIKE RIGHT NOW , YESTERDAY) You need to contact another dealer or the SR web site or PM me and I can give your #s to call to make it your options either confirmed or denied. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS; we still manufacture the 280 for say... another 2 week if not a 4 weeker. IF YOU WANT YOUR STUFF............ BE READY TO PAY, CAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE IMMEDIATE BEFORE THEY PUT THAT PART IN THE GROUND WHICH WILL MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT ON YOUR PART.

Please let me ask , why do you want a spoiler now?
Did you buy it used? And if so why did you buy this particular model without a spoiler? If not, WHY anyway? lol

Celepop:

I guess my reply did not deserve a reply?

Spoke with my dealer today. Not sure when we will get our boat back in the water. Don't get me wrong, we can have her in the water tomorrow. But something about me says, I just don't think I want to put her back in not looking right.

The 2005 Midnight Blue has serious problems and I really feel, economy or not, that SR needs to come forward and make this hull right.

Thanks.

I have to agree with chelepop. Just casue he works for Sea Ray doesn't limit him to shedding advise or information about boats. Face it, aren't we all doing the same thing on CSR? I have learned more on this site from ohter boaters experiences. I think its great since experience sometimes guides you much better than learnign it only from the MAN ual. That's the way it is!! but you hadn't heard it from me. :)

Tawcat, your previous post did not really have a question to reply to, same as this post. Chelepop as far as I can tell is an employee at one of the factories who actually is involved in building the boats. He can probably tell you how they go about spraying gelcoat, or what brand they use, but I doubt he is involved with corporate policy on what they intend to do if there are manufacturing defects. Please be easy on the guy! He can actually provide some great insight here on the building process.

Right off hand I do not, but If I was a betting gal I would have to say for value/amenities the 280 is right there on top with the new 330da 09 model. The reason I say this is just because those are the ones that are built the most and just seems to reason.

Hope this helps

I think chelepop is a Gal.

Celepop,
We recently purchased a new 2008 260DA, but have yet to see it. It'll be delivered in a couple weeks. We know it has 3B-harvest/ash-aurora interior...does that mean the carpet is grey (ash)? What's "Harvest"?
