NEW THREAD Employed by SeaRay

I doubt they know more then we do

I'll take your word for it. That'll make my friend with a Maxum very happy.

Great. Glad your a not a spy and more of an ambassador. (you know if more people thought and acted like you we might have more jobs here in the US)

Maybe you can answer this question for me. When the factory drills a hole in a non-cored hull to install a transducer or sea cock, does the factory simply apply a sealant such as 5200 or are additional steps performed to protect water from getting the hull? If so, what else is done?

Hi there,

If it is as large as a seacock or a transducer of course the proper procedure is reglass, gunk (bondo), and gel the area in stages of course for the catalyst to kick off. Then it is put in the test tank (large indoor pool) and then River ran to detect leaks. All of our boats are tested in the tank and for an actual river run. No more, No less.

Hope this helps :)

Chelepop.
Can you find the mold for the arch on a 1999-'04 260DA and make me one?

We can probably make that happen, but it's not just baddaboom , depends on your dash options on what the spoiler gets on top also :) Rewiring will have to happen also.

Thanks. That answers my question.

Chelepop-
We are trying to decide on a 390 or 40 Dancer Aside from the TV in the salon flipping up in model year 05 and on what other yearly changes were there to this model?
Mike

Hi there, as I've said in my first post, the 390 is unfamiliar territory and we have only had the 38/40 for the last year when Merrit Island closed. We will be sending back the 38/40 to Palm Coast Fl as they are more suited to build sport yachts, we at knoxville build the sport cruisers 280-350. Soon to be more as River View shuts down. Im sorry I couldnt be of more help to you.

Just out of curiosity. Do you know which is the most popular Sea Ray model in the "Sport Cruiser" (24 to 37 feet) catagory, based on sales volume?

Right off hand I do not, but If I was a betting gal I would have to say for value/amenities the 280 is right there on top with the new 330da 09 model. The reason I say this is just because those are the ones that are built the most and just seems to reason.

Hope this helps

I had a Merridian guy tell me (Miami Boat Show) that they have moved into that facility at Merrit Island to build the cheap SRs.

Again, thanks for being here!!!!!!

This is Awesome. This is why I bought a Sea Ray. Sea Ray is listening. People complained that they couldn't connect directly with the manufacturer, and now we have TWO people from Sea Ray here answering questions and helping customers. What more can you ask for. Thumbs up I say.

Actually I do have a question... maybe it's more of a complaint.

Why is this cupholder here? It seems like it's only use is for me to crack it and replace it for some crazy amount of money every year. It doesn't hold drinks. I know a good way to sell about 10 thousand cup holders, make a good useful one that we can bolt on. maybe something with a lid to put stuff in. sits a little higher so it can hold a cup without it falling out. A little thicker so my GF's butt doesn't crack it. Low enough so my dog can still get on the deck. Maybe out of starboard. Something that will last forever and costs less than $100. Pretty Please.

I would like to know how many 2005-2008 260DAs were actually made. Can that information be made public?

Well LOL that's quiet a mouthfull... And unfortunately I didnt have a hand in engineering the 280's. That's all pheonix's deal. All I can say is that you make a valid point, but since the 280 is being phased out I doubt it will do any good now. We only have until the end of March then they are kapoot.

Sorry I couldnt be of more assistance. n:huh:

I dont think I have the power to pull that information up since it was at the River view facility, but if we end up getting it we may be supplied with all the back info. I wont promise but Ill see what I can dig up for you. Can I ask you why this information is so important?

Thanks

Well lol there's no such thing as a cheap and a SeaRay in the same sentence. Is there a place where you can buy a brand new cheap SeaRay and if so can you lemme in on the secret cause I dont think that JD Power would ever find out! I think he's sadly mistaken, AAMOF the Knoxville facility was being looked into for maxum/bayliner and merridian. (we got maxum/bayliner now) We still have activity on Merrit Island, we have ppl still making spoilers (arches) for every SeaRay facility. And PD&E (product development and engineering) are still living there too.

I have a question concerning our 2005 320 Sundancer. We had to have her pulled to do some repair work, some jerk put a hole in our gelcoat (blue hull.) At any rate seems SR has discontinued the color and Spectrum dropped it as well. So as they sand and buff they are getting white spots, almost looks like metallic flakes.

Our SR dealer said SR had problems with that color the first year (2005) and that maybe SR will honor some type of warranty agreement. We are second owners, does that make us ineligible if SR does make an offer to help?

Of course the other piece to that is, to have a SR floating around with a crappy looking gelcoat!

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Greetings chelepop!

If the 280 is out in March, what will be replacing one of Sea Ray's most endeared boats?

I wonder if Searay will figure out that there is a huge void in the customer service department. We could set a record with this thread by hitting 2000 hits in less than 24 hours.
