Hi Shipmates,
Looking to replace the old stereo to a Bluetooth inside the cabin, I tossed out the old Claion box shaped speakers, weren’t working anyway, so heavy.
What would you recommend? I also need to replace the deck speakers while I’m at it.
Last summer I replaced the pink carpet with a vynal wood floor, updated the chart plotter, new canvas and extended the cockpit area to make nice Florida room. Rebuilt the sliding door rollers, It’s a lot of work but it’s a labour of love!

Cheers Rob

I can tell you this: Since this stereo will be inside the cabin, you can choice a variety of Bluetooth stereos that will not break the bank, AND add a Bluetooth bass speaker to go with the new sounds. I'm doing the Allure wood flooring in about a month.

Very happy with my J & L , Wetsounds combination.

Here are two awesome options. Fusion for a hardwired unit that ties into your marine electronics and sounds fantastic! The other option I'd offer is Bose link speakers. I have two as they link BT stereo and sound as good as my Fusion 650. The portability is endless. I use them in the dinghy, dock, bow, at home and etc!

Yes I used the life flooring last year, it was on for half price. Took a couple of days to yank out the carpet and two more to fit the floor. I trimmed around the bilge hatches with ash that I stained to contrast the lighter flooring colour. Turned out really nice.

I installed Fushion on my boat last fall to include stereo head, speakers, amp and subwoofer.
Hasn’t let me down and sounds great.

I put in an Alpine IVE-W535HD double DIN in the standard location below deck. Bluetooth works throughout the boat, except maybe at the very tip of the bow. I installed Morel tempo component speakers (6-1/2" + separate supremo tweeters) below, where they are not exposed to water, and Poly-planar marine platinum 8" speakers above deck, paired with dual JL 12W6V2 subs in a ported box that doubles as an extra bench seat in the rear starboard corner. Everything is powered by an Xtant X604 (4 channel main speakers) and an Xtant X1001 (subs) installed on a rack I built on top of my water heater midship port below deck.

Sounds excellent.

Sony has a great afortable head unit with blue tooth and remote plus an app if you are an app kind of user. I recommend Wetsounds Speakers or JL Audio. I use Wetsounds but JL Audio is good. I would highly recommend and ported subwoofer and an good quality amplifier. JL Audio also makes great amps. Have a separate channel on the amp for your sub or an amp just for sub. Really, really important is to have your amp tuned. A good 12volt stereo guy knows what to do to make the best out of your equipment.

Rob, were you looking for bluetooth connected speakers or the ability to connect to your stereo via bluetooth? I would shy away from blue tooth speakers for the following reasons: sometimes flaky, most likely external vs built in, like buying the old VCR/TV combo..one part breaks you have to replace both.

For the boats we have I have found that many of the stock systems (built in or external) lack depth at low volume. You have to turn it up way higher than you want to get the lows and highs. Maybe consider a small self contained sub (JBL, Kicker, Rockford or JL all make low cost units).

I toyed with getting a high end double DIN stereo but could not justify the cost for all the time I spend on the boat and found this super affordable TDYJWELL 7 inch Double Din Touch Screen Car Stereo on Amazon for less than $50 and am quite happy with the ease of installation and performance.

Sorry to see that your boat capsized, since your unit is showing upside down!

Forgive me, I'm Polish ;)
The unit looks good. I have seen some high end units/components installed, but have come to the conclusion that for the time you spend on your boat as long as you get the sound you want, reasonable takes place over expensive. On my last boat I had a nice car unit from Walmart matched with marine grade speakers, subs and Bluetooth. The only precaution I took was to remove the head unit during winter. Lasted over 4 years even up until I sold the boat.
